A plan to end load-shedding fast

I stayed in this village in Malelane this weekend. No load shedding at all. Geysers & Aircons run all day, no generators in sight, no fences and friendly residents.

They get their electricity from an IPP, the Selati sugar mill which used to own this village. The mill generates its own electricity which powers the mill, and this village (being the old staff village)

When Selati moved their head office to KZN, the houses in this village were sold off privately.

To me this town is a snapshot of what RSA could have been. Low/No walls, friendly residents, children playing in the street (Children, not teenagers, but kids less than 10)

If I could work from home permanently this is the place I'd move to.

How do they generate the electricity?
 
We are in a situation where real solutions, and they are obvious, require the ANC to make decisions which would put less money in their own pockets, and that more than stupidity is the problem. Political power is simply a means to and end for them, their real purpose being the funneling of as much of the fiscus into their bank accounts as possible. Corruption is so widespread and lucrative at this point that doing anything constructive hurts the flow of money in some way.

They are stupid too.

And you think after more than a decade.. these clowns would all of sudden fix the situation ? Lol. I got a brigde to sell you.

I still look at Eskom, government will rather keep us sitting in the dark, rather then allow Eskom to streamline, remove red tape, remove BEE etc etc. So government rather keep their policies intact than fixing the issues.

To be fair though we were continually under the threat of loadshedding, much of that time they were also burning diesel to keep things up and running.
 
What's 5,000 MW of battery storage?

Anyway that's 1,000,000 x 5 kWh of batteries. At R27k a pop, that's R27bn. Which orifice is Eskom going to pull that kind of money out of?
