Battery storage of 5GW in 2 years? LOL tell me more…Nuclear in 2 years? Tell us more...
I stayed in this village in Malelane this weekend. No load shedding at all. Geysers & Aircons run all day, no generators in sight, no fences and friendly residents.
They get their electricity from an IPP, the Selati sugar mill which used to own this village. The mill generates its own electricity which powers the mill, and this village (being the old staff village)
When Selati moved their head office to KZN, the houses in this village were sold off privately.
To me this town is a snapshot of what RSA could have been. Low/No walls, friendly residents, children playing in the street (Children, not teenagers, but kids less than 10)
If I could work from home permanently this is the place I'd move to.
How do they generate the electricity?
I don't trust residents installing nuclear. Why not 10GW of nuclear? why renewable? 5GW of batteries which would last how long.
500 houses with 10kW batteries.Battery storage of 5GW in 2 years? LOL tell me more…
And you think after more than a decade.. these clowns would all of sudden fix the situation ? Lol. I got a brigde to sell you.Yelland noted that government and Eskom had more than a decade to talk through and address the challenges, but the statistics show the situation is not improving
Jeez, but you can tease@maumau has the inside scoop.
Please delete your post. If everyone finds out about it it will stop working.
500 houses with 10kW batteries.
To be fair though we were continually under the threat of loadshedding, much of that time they were also burning diesel to keep things up and running.Actually no it hasn't, I wish people would stop saying that.
2008,2015,2018 through to now. It hasn't been 15 years of continuous shedding
OopsYou're out by a factor of 1000. Unless you meant 500K houses.
I can hand you a mirror and a flashlight if you'd like. What's 5,000 MW of battery storage?
Anyway that's 1,000,000 x 5 kWh of batteries. At R25k a pop, that's R27bn. Which orifice is Eskom going to pull that kind of money out of?
