My son also failed Maths- 30% he got and also strangely told me his maths exams went very well as he was taking extra lessons.
He did ok in all his other subjects (mostly in the 50 and 60% bar technology which was in the 80's...) but it said he passed *with assistance* I dont know wtf that means? Should I be very worried about the maths> he consistantly failed maths throughout the year and actually the 30% he got for this last term was the highest mark the entire year?
 
Can't understand how people can get 20-30% for school level maths. :/ It's ridiculously easy.

Just friggin sit down and study it. :twisted:

I hated school work and never studied or did homework, well I might have done some. I did something called Terminal Maths as I was useless with figures. The best thing about Terminal Maths was the fact that the answers were in the back of the book, how cool was that for me??? Anyway what I would do is watch the teacher signing/checking homework in the class and made sure I was near the last pupils to be checked and I filled in the answers as he was coming around the class. I did not want to appear clever by getting all the answers right and thereby being sent to a standard grade or even higher grade maths class, so I would make a few "wrong answers" on the homework so I would look like just another dumb schmuck, I guess it worked.

My niece came home with a 0% at the end of 3rd term. Some folk just don't get it. Not all of us have a first name as Albert.

Still waiting for year end results.

Just hoping she pulls through this year. It's been a foul year for her in many respects in her personal life. Poor kid.

Yes I know, but it depends what his going to study also... If his gonna do a Bachelor of arts then I honestly see no reason for him to do maths. I am a student math teacher so yes, I know what I'm talking about :p

If you want your kids to do well make sure they have no friends... When I came back from my year of exchange at the end of 2007 I changed schools, because I'm really shy and take a while to warm up to people and hated all my old friends I was pretty much friendless for a year and as a result had nothing better to do with my time other than work, I was consistently number 1 in my grade for all my subjects for the whole of grade 11 getting in the 90s for everything... I finally decided a few people were worthy of my friendship around the end of the year/beginning of matric and my marks dropped by around 15%.

Funny you should mention that. On friday we ride pass a school girl with her school shirt covered with names but she looked sad and my impression was that she was very popular at school but had failed. Like you say, too many friends with too many distractions.
