Give these guys a wide berth if you come across them: Computer Geek Services / CGS Digital
Currently operating out of Stellenbosch, Cape Town.

Web developers and hosting company, who just deleted my website without any communications, citing non-payment. I explained that I had never received an invoice...and would still pay upon receiving an invoice. Owner, Matthew Pate (not A South African it claims to have a working visa), says he has so many clients that invoices could very well go missing (...and no apologies). Really???? Well how do I pay (need bank details, amount, hosting package, tax trail etc). My guess is these guys have stuffed something up and have not even got their billing right. Even now, after several requests for an invoice, no response.

After much back and forth the owner's final words were that he is under no obligation to re-publish the website and that complaining on social media "was a very lonely place". Will now have to redevelop from scratch. Shame on you Computer Geek Services / CGS Digital. Many lessons learnt for me :cry:.

Story: Multiple sides.

To republish a website would mean that the website is still alive, throwing your 'website deleted' comment out the window. When you open your domain/website, what does it show? A suspended page of some sort? Websites incur monthly hosting costs, why did you not ask about payment a month or so into the whole ordeal?

They can't be all bad. After all, by your own account they hosted your site without payment. That sounds pretty accommodating in today's world.

What really happened? How long were you running without paying before they deleted your site?

And why do you have to redevelop from scratch? Simply upload your backup, surely.

A very important and sometimes hard lesson to learn. I get the idea the OP is currently learning. :)
