I thought I would just warn users on this forum of what WebAfrica have done to me on numerous occasions. I think they are a great company but this is the biggest load of **** ever!

I just received an invoice for a local account I apparently bought, which I most certainly never. I did buy one about three months ago and told them it was NOT to carry over to the next month. So now I'm just going to assume they've been charging me ever since then!

On another occasion the same thing happened with another account and they never disconnected me on the last day of the month, so I was forced to pay for the next month too!

Grr  I think it's time to change....

This also happened to me but I realised I had been billed and did not use the account. I emailed them, they apologised and reversed the charge. What is worrying is that I have heard a few people complain about this, I think Webafrica need to look into it.

Yeah it's pretty ridiculous. Now I'm just curious to know for how many months of unused bandwidth I've been charged for. I'll definitely be looking at alternatives...

i think this happened to me but i paid because i thought i bought it but never , i paid R1000+ because i had so many account thats usually pm and cancelled them , when i look inside the services its not there but it was charged for so i just got the money slowly and paid

On the WebAfrica site it says if you buy a normal account (like a local account), you have to send an email to the billing department and cancel it before the new months starts (if you don't want it to carry over)

It seems you did that above.

I didn't understand it previously.

If you didn't use the bandwidth, and have copies of the emails you sent, you are entitled to a refund IMO ;)

Webafrica is a phone call away.

Wish people would use this before making posts.

If you're referring to me, I shouldn't have to phone WebAfrica to tell them to fix their stupid screw ups. I have contacted them through email and have received the money they owe me.

Thank goodness I accidently found this Topic by Squirrel. I have been enquiring from Webafrica about certain Services they offered. Well I thought one or 2 email's would have given me all the info I needed. But about 10 ++ email's later , all I found were discrepancies in their pricing from one email to the next. I asked very specific questions but there were hidden fees/costs they did not mention until I asked outright.

The Postings on this subject has made up my mind. I will stay where I am, at
least for the time being. They say better the devil you know than the one you don't know.

I have been writing to various ISP's and some must have more clients than
they need as I did not get replies from several I had written to.

I did get a reply from a couple and once again they only mentioned they good
part of the deal they were offering, not the hidden costs. In particular the
amount having to be paid to SAIX for the ADSL Line.

I will be extremely cautious in future.

Thanks everyone,

Silkie :D

The line rental is hardly a hidden cost and NO ISP has any control over that, you will receive a Telkom phone bill with your line rental listed as always, so clear up for me how this is a hidden cost?

And it is not paid to SAIX, it is paid to Telkom, SAIX is only the backbone Telkom uses, a totally different venture.

They are only offering the Account, and not the line itself. And like MyWorld said, its paid to Telkom, not SAIX, and is hardly a hidden fee.

omw this logic just amazes me man

*shocked*

1. Purchase WebAfrica account
2. Tell them it's only for one month
3. Self reminder they are going to **** up and make sure I must call them sometime in the future.

???

Shocking man, pick up the phone and it will be sorted out in 5 minutes

Although some people would rather Moan and complain, guess your one of those

LOL what the hell? This has happened to me about three or four times before, and every time I have contacted them and had it sorted out. I thought the point of this forum was to warn people about bad service? I don't understand what you're bitching about...

WebAfrica should definitely look into this. After seeing this thread I discovered that they have also charged me this month for 2 accounts I cancelled last month

I'm not doing the bitching, all i am saying if there is a problem phone your ISP before putting them down on a forum.

Makes no sense to me why people post a thread about something that can be sorted out over the phone.
They also send email informing you that you are going to billed, so its not like they do it under the table, again one PHONE call and everything is sorted out.

X phone them and sort it out, they have many customers and when their is a problem they may not always pick it up, again one PHONE call and they will give your money back if no bandwidth has been used.

Squirrel did you not get emails informing you about the bill? i know personally i get emails every month telling me they will charge me X-amount. If i see a problem i phone them, i dont make threads on a forum that won't solve my problem.

+1
I always got email sent ahead of time

Buy the account and then go to cancel it immediately after purchase. Just set it to cancel at the "end of the month"...easy peasy.
