A warning to WebAfrica users

Yea but if cancel it and they have already turned over the month, you will need to PHONE THEM.

When you guys finally get your rocket science degree, then you will think about this clearly and PHONE them, until then you can carry on without your degree in this forum :p

Hi Squirrel and all the rest..

Firstly I'd like to extend our sincere apologies to you for the inconvenience caused to you. If you would be so kind as to PM me your client code, I assure you I will look into it immediately. Alternatively, if you wish to contact me directly, me details are as follows:

[email protected]
direct number: 021 464 9542

To [X] - Could I request that you too send me your client code, either via PM or by way of using my personal contact details, this way I can assure you that the fee's you mention, which have been charged even though you have canceled your accounts, are reversed asap.

Further to this I would like to add that we at Web Africa strive to help each and every client as soon and as swiftly as possible. I do again apologize for any inconvenience that may have been caused to any one of who in a similar situation and promise to resolve your queries just as soon as you let us know about it.
In regards to account cancellations, as with [X], which even after having been canceled, has still been billed... 1. All the monthly accounts (all but prepaid accounts) are auto renewed each month and requires cancelation. 2. As we allocate invoicing for a new month +- 7 days prior to the 1st of that month, it is best to send us these cancelation requests at least 10 days prior to the new month, this way the account will be canceled on the last day of the month at midnight and you can rest assured that you will not be billed for the upcoming month.

Thank you for all your feedback, it is all appreciated :)

This has also happened to me, selected the cancel at end of month feature when I created the account and thought all was ok until I noticed I was billed next month. However all I did was log a call on their client help desk thing and it was sorted out very quickly.

A man with a rocket science degree, yay :p

WebAfrica Prepaid. Nothing more convenient and economical.
I've had this for three years now - no problems at all. Helpfull support, I can even log onto their top-up site when my bandwidth has run out and buy more. It will be activated immediately, even before I can go online to pay them.
I have used many ISPs since 1995 and have never had such good service - faultless.
PS: i don't work for them, neither do I even know anyone there.

Personally I have no problem with them. Cancelled the account & emailed them to confirm. Got the next months charges reversed also.
Quick, effiecient response.
And I found out as Mariet said, that its better to put the cancellation request 10 days before end of month. :)

Also been on pre-paid now for 6 months or so.... excellent service - my credit card had expired before my last purchase and they did not cut me off. Just requested I update the details so they can put the charge through. And the bandwidth does not expire after a month...

damn, this thread also made me check my WebAfrica accounts. A once off 1gb int. acc I got a while ago is still active :P.
I'll have to to rape it before the end of the month and send them an e-mail to stop it... (my own fault for not knowing to send an email)

edit: but still, if it wasn't for this thread I wouldn't have checked so thanks for the warning squirrel

Well, it turned out I actually bought a proper account instead of a prepaid. I logged a ticket via my client support portal and the account was canceled with a ref number withing minutes I logged it! Very quick and efficient indeed!

I really don't get your post.
You say you have a once-off account which usually means it's prepaid, and yes it never expires; so why to you have to abuse it before the end of the month and then cancel it? It's not as if you'll get more bandwidth than you've bought or be charged next month for a new 1GB account.

BTW
I'm sick and tired of people posting their moans and groans on an open forum before exhausting all their options. Yes, I have had problems with WebAfrica, but they resolved the issues quicker than most other providers (ADSL or other).

This also happened to me but I realised I had been billed and did not use the account. I emailed them, they apologised and reversed the charge. What is worrying is that I have heard a few people complain about this, I think Webafrica need to look into it.

Exactly the same thing happened to me. No worries , just emailed them the original mail I sent to cancel , nowadays I use their pay as u go which I find much better.

More bitching just to make you all unhappy: I bought a 30gb local account and made it expire at the end of the month, but I just received a tax invoice for September. Another messup :)

I thought I would just warn users on this forum of what WebAfrica have done to me on numerous occasions. I think they are a great company but this is the biggest load of **** ever!

I just received an invoice for a local account I apparently bought, which I most certainly never. I did buy one about three months ago and told them it was NOT to carry over to the next month. So now I'm just going to assume they've been charging me ever since then!

On another occasion the same thing happened with another account and they never disconnected me on the last day of the month, so I was forced to pay for the next month too!

Grr  I think it's time to change....

Wait a minute. I have had such issues before, but they have been very friendly in sorting it out. They check usage and if no usage occured I think they will refund or void the bill. Have you asked them?

2nd that.

I only trust webafrica to handle my Internet

And I have upgraded, downgraded, added, removed and cancelled alot since I signed up a year ago. Even the referrals system hasn't given me a hickup

I got my money refunded on those accounts. But now in August I bought 2x 10gb local accounts. When purchasing, I ticked whatever it said (expire end of month or something) AND I made a special notice asking them to expire it at the end of the month. Both those accounts just got charged for September. I emailed them to sort it out, and they did. But it is not my job to email them about charging me for something when I ticked it in the first place! This has happened about 4 times now.
