A week with Apple ...

Well you have a history of trolling Apple threads. Not?
Wild accusation? Nope this is the internet, anything is possible. Just my theory.
I don't think I troll?

I can literally give a fact or two, and it just triggers people.

Look at you when I pointed out that the A15 wasn't outperforming an old Android. You could have scrolled past - but you felt that rage and had chime in.

And what's what causes fights. You.

Not so bad yourself getting involved in a number of Android vs Apple threads.

I think the difference between you and I is you don't seem to really understand phones much.

Maybe that's why you default to little memes?

Weeping and wailing?
What?

The last couple of days you've been sounding like Thor with his stupid "I can't do this" type posts.

Am I not allowed to ask why things are slower or not as I've been told? Is there a code that I've missed that prevents one discussing?

Yes, of course, but people can tell you when it seems you're going off track a bit too far.

Lol so you never been banned from Apple threads or the Apple section?
Just asking as Im sure I read you say that somewhere.

Going through your posts.

You don't even limit yourself to Apple vs Android. You go full on every topic and feel yourself to be an expert - which seems to everything...

I haven't posted anything that should cause an issue. I've just pointed out that battle with a number of apps - and asked about why the processor isn't performing as well as I thought.

You have that spot on. But it kind off goes against your previous post to me being triggered by your A15 posts. I don’t even know what chip any Android have or care. Hell if you say you Iphone has A13 or A16 that also mean nothing to me.

Confucius said you shouldn't do iPhone vs Android comparisons as they are always inflammatory. Be happy with what you have.

I am 90% happy.

However the expectation from others was that I'd 100% - which just won't happen. I'm far too objective and if doesn't work or Android has a better experience , I'll call it out.

You must understand that after reading how fast the A series chip is, I'd ask why an old (old) phone is performing better?

If my 300kw sportscar was getting beat by old GTIs, I'd probably hop onto a forum to ask why...

Your thread started well but went of the rails, with you getting into the thick of it as well.

Don’t think you trolled but you did take bait and ran with it at times, and I also think you baited at times.

Either way, it seems you bought into this with the TV and iPhone, which really leaves few options…
Try get apps and workflow changed by developers - which will be limited.
Learn how to use the new ecosystem to the best of its abilities - probably the best way forward.
Go back to what you used before.

Having used iPhone, Mac and Apple TV for years it works for me, it like anything else it is never perfect.
I still use a Windows laptop for some stuff which it is good at, not a problem.
I do not use Android but also do not think Apple is better, both are better at some things, OK at some and could do better at some.

Never get married to any tech or become a fanboy, tech changes too quickly and life is too short for that.

At best these threads are entertaining and in-between the noise there are a few useful ‘how to’ tips.
At worst, well sometimes there is eg2505 (posted TIC)

Or you would be in Kraaifontein where this happens every Sunday evening.

A smartphone is just a miniature PC , optimised for low power mobile usage and a touch interface, with extras like the cameras and haptics. It’s really not difficult to understand if you understand computer hardware in general.

Tech does change very quickly but design philosophy and values stay constant for a long time, and my personal values align more with the Apple way.

This is the way.

The important part of this post.

Some whatsapp features are Android exclusive, some are iOS exclusive. It frustrates me that up to this day, whatsapp call notifications are not supported by my Apple Watch - I miss a lot of WhatsApp calls that way (not sure if it available on later versions of WatchOS, which I cannot use)

Also, it would have been cool to see GPS speed on Google Maps, on iOS, like you do on Android.

But I accept this and still enjoys the benefits and other nice things about Apple.

The DJI app I use for my gimbal prefers iOS, they state themselves some features are not supported on Android. My drone's app works much better on iOS too.

So all I am saying is, one has to accept that nothing in life is perfect. With everything (and in this case, with every phone or operating system) there are gonna be some pro's and con's. You have to decide for yourself what features are more important to you.

On a more philosophical note, and I am not attacking anyone here, I feel we have become too dependent on technology. To state that a swipe up after face unlock, which takes half a second, negatively impact your experience, is interesting. What did we all do when a Nokia 6110 was THE phone to have? I understand and appreciate the fact that technology tries to improve the convenience factor, but hell have we all forgot how to wipe our own butts too?:ROFL:

Still no WhatsApp app on WatchOS and therefore still no way to get proper notifications or take calls.

Seems that another app that works better on Android is FNB, specifically copy & paste which the iPhone cannot do?

When buying prepaid power it asks for a meter number *if* you don't buy the same as last purchase. In other words as you scroll the wheel the meter number disappears and needs to be added manually again ...

So 22Seven, Snapseed, MyBroadband, Shelly and FNB offer more functionality on Android. Whatsapp seems the same functionality - but the layout of the app is really sh*tty

Why are you buying prepaid through FNB and missing out on Clicks eBucks?

Yep, recommended to never completely close apps. iOS is very good at managing apps in the background.

Was about to make this exact point.

@Dolby don’t be tempted to “multitask swipe” and force close apps.

There is no need for it, leave them all open permanently and let the OS manage it.

There is no task manager behaviour required from the use for iOS.

I have 108 apps open right now.

It could still be a user problem and not an actual processor problem.

Like I stated above, if you are in the habit of force closing things (like many Android people feel the need to do when moving across) then you would be directly hamstringing the OS and working against its intended design.

Same way that you may be finding issue with a particular thing “not working” but meanwhile it just works differently as a couple of examples have shown in the thread.
