A week with Apple ...

I assume Dolby is referring to having to swipe up once FaceID has unlocked the phone
That one is instinctive. I pick up the phone, it sees my face and I swipe up. It's all muscle memory.

Sometime I have to stop the instinctive swipe if I'm just reading the notifications. Seems to me notifications lose their value otherwise.

It's a different way of doing things, that's all.

Gotten used to not having fast charging - my battery lasts for around 2 days anyway, and I just plug it in and let it charge up while I’m working or whatever. Fast charging may seem convenient, but I’d honestly rather have a battery that will still be in good nick in a year or two because it isn’t burnt out.

Been off Android for a few months now, and I don’t even notice the iPhone “quirks” anymore.

Do you only reply to notifications?

You don't phone / Whatsapp / Compose mails?

I think more and more I've realized the iPhone is a Goldilocks phone for it's users. 'Everything is just right!'

Don't get me wrong - I like the phone.

Read my post again with understanding and coherency and you’ll notice I referred to reactionary actions, which is what a phone gets used for majority of the time.

Of course you compose things or do planned actions and in those cases it’s a simple swipe up.

The rest of the time your actions are direct and infinitely quicker and more focused.

STOP just reading you want to read. You compare this entire bullshit “Goldilocks” narrative inside your own head.

You also respond very selectively only to the things that support this and ignore everything else.

Once you go super fast charging it's difficult to go back.
What was once the norm of having to charge your phone overnight is now a chore.
I pop the charger in about 20 minutes before leaving the house, usually good to go for the day.
Even 20 mins is long. 66W super charge FTW. I remember my phone was on 6% and my mate said let's go visit a friend, I could of brought along a powerbank. I put it through its paces, I was at 75% in less than 10 mins.

Funny thing is once fast charging hits iOS, all users will be like it's the best thing since sliced bread.

But when I do need to charge my phone on the odd occasion on a cable that’s pretty much a 20min job?

So I don’t get it.
What do you mean it's a 20 minute job? I have a 66W fast charging phone and a 33W. 33W is freaking slow and archaic. If it's on 10%, 20 minutes time it'll be on 25%.

I have no idea, it’s never bothered me enough to time it.

But I’ve been on 1% forever now waiting for it to die and then we’ll find out.

I don’t buy it though. Even the old out of the box standard Apple charger from probably my iPhone 5S charges more than 5% in 20 minutes.

Only reason I don’t use that is because I prefer wireless…which I’m sure is even slower but it’s a non issue.

It’s also just a terrible idea to preserve longevity of batteries.

I can tell you've not experienced fast charging.

I can tell you've not experienced fast charging.

I can tell you I’ve never needed to experience it.

I literally can’t see how it changes my life in any way whatsoever.

Now the iPad, that’s a different story.

Also let’s not forget, the iPhone does have Fast Charging, it just doesn’t have outrageous charging.

Lamborghinis vs Ferraris. That’s literally what you folks are arguing.

Damn this phone just won’t die.

I don’t remember when last it actually had run completely flat.

It occurs to me that ten years ago, today's fast charging folk were the same folks bothering everyone for a charging cable all day, every day 'cos their phone was about to die.

Their learned behaviour is having your phone on short bursts on charge between cable owners gets tetchy.

I'm just from a different school.

Today was a reasonably busy phone day for me; still, when I slapped the phone on the charger this evening, the battery was at 58%.

That's a thing to really appreciate on the phone... That, and the fact that tomorrow morning I'll be set to do it all again.

I can't recall how many times I've heard that *yawn* Typically when a device doesn't support fast charging.

I recall my 40w charger back in late 2018. The Apple at a few Watts or so and they all told me my battery would be dead a year later.

But here I am in 2022 with the standard degradation on a battery. In fact, I know plenty of iPhone users with dying batteries after 4 or 5 years

Edit: I think Apple keeps shifting the goalposts on this as well. At one stage, anything more than 5w was terrible at battery life.

But before the iPhone had a great battery, no one cared about the battery life. Now everyone cares about battery life :)

I've had decent midrange phones in the past 5-10 years. Which lasted all day plus one. It's a different kettle of fish having fast charging capabilities.
