A week with Apple ...

How do you do it?
It didn't work by default. I remember having to change the default payment app to the FNB app from the default (Huawei Pay) and then you can use any card you set as dafault. I've set my virtual card with its own pin.

Is the HDR still forced on the default camera for the 13, I saw somewhere that you could disable it in earlier iPhones but not anymore ?

Doesn't show up on the iPhone 13. Even the support documentation excludes it

Oh wait I’m on iOS16 so may be that.

But also on an 11.

Lol you mean the same Samsung that sells a 45W now that is only marginally faster than the 25W?

Wanted to mention this, batteries don't wear out faster (or at least user noticeably faster) if under 50%, so usually you can up the charge substantially at under 50% and can get pretty fast charging with little wear. Even without fast charging it will be something similar but less drop off once the battery is higher charged.

Personally wouldn't buy a phone under 30W charging anymore (my phone that's 75% in under 30min, but 50% in something like 15min), and used a phone for a while that was 65W, it's nice to hit near full charge quickly if you only have a short time.

My phone battery can last me anywhere between a day and three days, all depends. Can often use the GPS for a few hours, come home and only have 15min before heading out again, so needs to charge fast enough to last the rest of the evening, happens near every weekend when I go for longer hikes and then visit friends in the evening, means I can delay heading home from the hike for a bit longer.

Also only one USB c charger for phone and ear buds, works fine if can just charge the ear buds case when I go to sleep and then wake up, plug in phone, have breakfast and brush teeth, phone is fully charged, my old Nokia 7 Plus wasn't able to do that, it makes life a lot more convenient.

I simply cannot operate Android, the way settings and menus etc are designed does not make sense to me. But I also appreciate the fact that for someone else it might be the exact opposite.
The menu's in android are definitely better, especially quick settings. You also have search for all of it.

That said, Xiaomi skin settings I find terrible, only tried the Huawei one a few years ago and also disliked it, stock Android one is nicer.

rather than going into an app like I previously did (FNB)
You can set the default payment app as fnb, then just need to unlock with fingerprint and tap.

Whoeever had the Google pay support comment, did anyone check if the new google wallet has support yet? They added a lot of banks, don't have a South African card anymore to test with anymore though.

And then live picture being blurry, whoever said that, why should it be? There are more frames, it should be able to pick the one most in focus, e.g. Google Photos makes a better pic of them by combing them all.

My only gripe with iPhone is the inability to send pictures and videos as documents in Whatsapp to avoid compression and file limited.
I do it all the time.

Android has many advantages but I just cannot get over the inherent lag that will eventually rear its ugly head. It will be perfectly smooth for a while but then you'll start noticing small little delays in doing things that really gets on my nerves.

Had an iPhone 11 for almost a year now I think and the UI is still as smooth as the day I got it.

Same issue with Android TV on my Shield (a very high end media player) there is just always some lag somewhere when you want to do something.

If Android could fix this issue I would consider moving back for my mobile phone, until then I'm satisfied with the iPhone.

Don't have the space for such adventure
I get that - the raw photos are bulky. The only time I switch to raw though is when I can see their HDR nastiness in play.

That's usually either a bad patch, you've maxed your cache or cheap phone.
Haven't had a lag issue in years on Android outside of when I noticed having to upgrade from 512MB RAM to 1GB+ (as apps got more demanding, not able to keep up with YT and e-mail at the same time, etc.).

Wouldn't that be a shield issue rather than an Android one?
As an aside: Would guess you've installed whatever patch it is since then.
And I can say the same lag exists with iOS if running e.g. an iPhone 7/8, I did notice it on a 13 a couple of times when swapping between apps (was setting one up for a family member), but think that's more the animation, most better Android devices feel a bit snappier (all depends on skin).

Uh…it is possible…why do you say it’s not?
