I would like to warn all the Formites about signing contracts with Vodacom through their Vodacom outlets.
In early May I assisted my wife in opening a 1 gb data contract at the Vodacom outlet in Edenvale. This contract included a Vodafone K3715 USB stick 3G modem. Obviously a debit order was signed allowing Vodacom to deduct the monthly subscription for a period of 24 months. This subscription is R349 per month for 1gb data.(Stated on the contract)
A month later she informed me that Vodacom was deducting R708 per month instead of the R 349. At that stage I presumed the first month's debit order included extra charges related to new accounts.
When the same happened the following month, I phoned VC Customer Care to enquire about the overcharge and request invoices as none had been received to date.
I was informed that the contract also included a Laptop at R359 pm. This was clearly not what she signed for on the contract. VC CC requested a copy of the contract, which I faxed to them. I was told that the mistake would be corrected and that a reimbursement would take place shortly and issued with a reference number.
In October she received her first invoice which did not reflect any adjustments as promised, in fact the R359 for the laptop was still included.
On 15th October, I again phoned the VC Customer Care Centre and was informed that the investigation was closed. After protestations and threats I was given another reference number and again told I would be contacted.
This is where the case presently stands with Vodacom.
I also contacted the Vodacom outlet who had moved to the East Rand Mall and they made copies of the contract as well. An assistant there by the name of Nikkie informed me they would investigate and contact me. The assistant Eric, who had initially assisted us was no longer in their employ. (maybe a laptop richer)
Does Vodacom have the right to debit a client with any amount without the necessary authority as they have blatently done?
Should my wife cancel the debit order and demand immediate cancellation of the contract and overcharge refund due to the inefficiency on the side of the Vodacom and their Agents staff, which has led to financial loss on a monthly basis?
Who the hell can one talk to in a position of authority at Vodacom as the goons on the Customer Care desk cannot solve a simple case as this?
VD if you are lurking please post and I will PM you the details.
