a Wow for Axxess...

Word of caution - if your going to cancel your Telkom ISP account don't do it over the phone

I asked for tips on cancelling :-

http://www.mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=22386

Turns out there's a good chance of getting billed even after you've cancelled and then you'll have to run around trying to get your money back.

Bottom line, painful as it may be, go into a Telkom shop and sit with a consultant and get them to do it right there and then - they have access to the billing system and can update your account.

Well it seems not everybody working for Telkom is stupid. I cancelled over the telephone and that was that finish and klaar. If you cancell by phone ask for a reference number.

When did you cancel WiseCrack ?

I really don't trust doing this kinda thing over the phone - I just imagine someone sitting there with either a huge pile in their Inbox, who shoves a bit of paper with your details at the bottom, or someone playing solitaire just "going through the motions" as they talk to you, but not writing a damn thing down.

If I were a Telkom employee, I'd not give a stuff about anything, having seen the outragoeus profits and salaries of top management.

At least if your sitting with a person face to face they have to help you - I made sure to get print outs and references.

I still, however, expect a run-around on my credit for my next bill - I've been informed I'll pay the full amount because it's been processed already, but that it'll be refunded on the next bill - hmmm, we'll wait and see if that happens or not !

I wish all companies were as efficient as Axxess.

I cancelled two months ago. Went with Axxess no conspiracy's nothing.
So a plus for the person who helped me that day. She said sir ur account will be terminated at the end of the day and it was so.

You are taking about Axxess right? They emailed me the forms I signed and emailed them back as a pdf. Faxing never came into the equation.

Will Axxess deal with Telkom in regard to line installation, if I don't have a pre-existing landline, or do I have to go to Telkom myself, get the line connected and only then apply at Axxess for ADSL installation?

Thank you

I think you'll have to do it yourself - especially as you dont have an existing line. Call up telkom for a ADSL installation and then deal with the isp part AFTER everything is installed. Chances are you can call axxess for your account while telkom is there 'working'.

I have anexisting line actually, the people who owned the house had the phone before, I disconnected it when I bought the house. So perhaps I cna just reconnect it? And then phone Axxess?

Regards

Hi Viceroy, Johan from Axxess Africa here. You can scan and e-mail me the documents if you don't have a fax available. Did I tell you to fax it? If I did, I apologize for it. Just PM me if you want the e-mail address where you must send it too.

Wait until telkom have actually installed the adsl and call axxess. Getting the axxess account before then is putting the cart before the horse.

Phew - I didnt imagine it then. Btw nice service - often go past your shop in Humerail on the way to get take aways from 777 - which btw and imo is the best Chinese food in PE by far.

re cart before horse, yeah - get the adsl installation sorted first - and dont worry once that's done. I was up and running on axxess within about 30 minutes after the techie left.. (20 minutes to stroll to bank, 5 minutes to fone em, then fax from postnet, and smoothly online)

Sorry Johan...I meant when I phoned Telkom to cancel my account with them I had to send a fax

SAIX

I have a TelkomSA account and have no complaints, but as soon as they start hardcapping I am moving to Axxess. Use their "ADSL NOW" option quite often - great service delivery times.

So axxess have been getting raving reviews since 2005 in this thread... good on you Axxess.

I use their unshaped prepaid service... never ever had an issue with them, and when i did one, support sorted it out within minutes... Full marks for effort..
Just bought a WA unshaped account so i can test verizon etc and well i found it just as easy to setup and manage your account via the web. WA are coming along as well! keep it up guys
