Article age a bit out, I'd say.
I'm that +30, still teaching the young generations how to really embrace technology in business, in life, in general - and not just computers and cellphones either! Technology is present in every walk of life, whether you think Hubble, bio-diesel, medical, sewing, shipping, drilling, fishing, you name it - there's just no limit for/of new technologies!

You mean FLEX, OS9 or maybe FORTH? OS9 being a simultaneous 4 user system running on 56KB and 2 x 8" floppy drives! I modified the SWTP 6809 I built to have a Z80 processor, so that I could boot into 6809 FLEX or OS9 or into Z80 CPM or MPM.
Now those were fun times, little off the shelf stuff, you built the hardware from a bare board and often wrote your own OS device drivers.

yes this is a rather stupid article from somone who's meant to be "one of the leading ICT journalists in South Africa"
but then, the article is just quoting marketing types who don't ever know what they're talking about. I mean, blogging and facebook? if they wanted to talk about technology in the business, i'm sure there are more intelligent people they could have found to interview...
for what its worth, a lot of my business clients are well into their 50s-60s and embrace technology and also use it in their business places.
Yea exactly. Spending all day yapping on Facebook/Mxit/SMS isn't exactly "using technology" to accomplish anything. I think its the older generation who indeed actually do USE these technologies.

Got a ZX-81 in my collection but a Dragon would be nice. Wonder how many remember the 6809 CPU.
Had apple II clone, was coding that thing in assembly while in std. 6/7, moved on to a Amiga 500 in Std.8 and coded the lovely 68000 in assembly.
My uncle built his own 6809 computer from a Elektor magazine kit. Was supposed to run FLEX but he never finished the damn thing and he was so close.

I've been looking for a working BBC Model B for a while - it has quite a few memories (writing out programs on paper at age 8 before heading over to the neighbour's house to try them out.... he charged me R10 per lesson!)
