Just a thought:

Since i found it kuk easy to make tons of gold and are way overstocked on it, would you guys on Twighlight's be interested in buying Gold at say R75 per 1000G?

Like i said, just a thought....give me your thoughts(bad, good or rant, go ahead)

Regards.

Two words for gold sellers and the like...sod off. :)

Wrong realm, but if your service is good you will find some customers.
R75 per 1k gold sounds about right for the going rate.

Just don't come crying here when you get your account banned. I do believe that gold selling is against the ToS.

How would they know he's not sending the gold to friends? Unless he explicitly advertises ingame I don't think it'll be flagged unless someone reports him and shows transactions where money exchanged hands (and then gold)

I'm thinking more along the lines that when he's starting to send lots of gold through mails it will get flagged. And he will need a very good reason to send gold to a player he hasn't interacted at all with, ie not on his friends list, not in his guild, not an alt and never chatted with the person.

Blizz might ignore one or two such cases, but if it happens regularly, they can suspend his account. Then he has to explain why he is sending gold to random people.

Waaaaay risky. I'm sure Blizzard flags accounts that send large quantities of gold to characters on other accounts. Someone I know in a guild I was in a while back got his account banned this way, even though he wasn't selling the gold, just helping someone out. It was a lot though, something like 10K.

And that's why gold sellers don't deliver gold via the in-game mailing system, but personally.

But seriously. There's over 10 million players world wide. Many gold sellers. And 1 lonely dude doing this because he has a lot of gold stock. Paranoid much? :D

What makes you sure that doesn't get logged as well?

Friend of mine quit playing and sent me 5k gold as well as some other large amount to another friend via the in game mail. No issues.

I've sent a few guys in the guild 6k at a time to pay for their flying. Have 24k out on loan at the moment.

Me too. I often send gold to people. Loan, get paid the gold back etc. No problems.

Go to http://www.rpg-bay.co.za

They buy/sell gold.

Seems like they also buy and sell accounts but it does not look very active. I would like to sell my Enh Shammy but I can't see myself using a service like that. At least they have a secure page though so they must be relatively safe.

Gold sellers ruin the ingame economy. And much of that gold you buy comes from some poor slobs' hacked accounts. But it's gotten to the point where everything's so mudflated and buying gold so cheap, there's little recourse.
Personally, I've done it once but won't do it again. Doing so supports hackers and goldfarmers hogging all the nodes etc.

Everything gets logged, but by judging how Blizzard is seriously considering making the authenticator mandatory for accounts, I reckon they can't keep up with hacked accounts. So why would you then assume they have thousands of man-hours/power to follow up each transaction of gold sent that's over 1k or whatever?

Agreed, but gold farmers need to play the game just like everyone else. Their purpose though is to play the game for profit by only grinding for items that sells on the AH. For example, Chilled Meat. How many times have you actually go and grind Chilled Meat for your own stock so you can cook/do the daily cooking quests?

Same with Fish Feast. Or infinite dust. Or Dreamshard's?

Granted the last couple I mentioned is piss easy to get, especially if you have an enchanter in the group while you're doing instances, but still.

Instead of focusing on a raid they'll focus on killing mobs to get leather/meat etc that's in demand. They'll constantly mine nodes and either prospect them for gems to cut or smelt the ore. Depending on the demand.

To me they're not ruining the economy as much as they're bringing down prices. The more supply overshadows demand, the less you pay. Frozen Orb's are testament to that (as an example)

There's no "gold duping" technique that (I know of) exists in WoW. So the gold made, traded and sold are all part of what Blizzard expects on a server. It's not like suddenly 40 million gold accumulated in some magical place and now everyone can buy a castle (*cough* Ultima Online *cough*)

You get lazy assed bitches who don't want to sit in front of a PC for 8 hours a day grinding for what they need. So they buy it on the AH. Ever thought who you just bought from when you go and buy that new cut gem or that vellum that contains your +10 stats enchant? Or where the chilled meat comes from for your cooking daily?

Me neither, but it's there :D

Unfortunately you are right, but...

I can assure you there are legitimate "farmers" out there that do have the time to do the "farming" thing to generate the gold that can save you your time to do the gaming thing that you like. Also, as Mr. AcidRaZor already explained it very wel, it does not hurt the economy one bit. It's legit gold, part of the world gold-pool, that only changes ownership.

As for myself, i am not a gold farmer. I cannot stand the grinding thing over and over again for any amount of time. I cant even do a view quests anymore these days, i simply don't want the "work" anymore. Instead i use a different way of generating gold in the least amount of time. And to ease everyone's mind, I'll tell you how.

Simply put, i use the two professions of the game that have each a daily cool-down skill and a very short daily quest namely Alchemy and Jewel-crafting. Alchemy lets you transmute lesser gems intto an epic gem of your choice which by itself (if cut with your JC skill) is worth 180-240 gold. Also if you are a transmute-spec alchemist, you have a chance to get 2,3,4 or 5 gems at one time from one transmutation (albeit a slim chance). From Jewel-crafting you get a daily short quest that has a Dragon's eye gem as reward(well you buy it with the q-reward). This gem alone is worth 100-150 gold, but you can use your JC to cut it into a Nightmare's tear which is worth 150-190 gold ATM. JC also lets you create an icy-prism, on a daily cool-down, which has a chance of yielding another epic gem.

So from one character, assuming that transmutation does not proc extra gems and icy-prisms yields no epics, you get 180-240 + 150-190 = 330-430 gold every day. Now have those same two professions on 7 capable characters and well,....do the maths. Best part of all: no farming and it takes about 30mins to do all 7 characters.

I hope i've sown the seed of easy gold a day to you guys, for the rest....Just a thought: i have tons of gold to "share" ;p

Regards.

I just use de'ed mats i get from dungeon runs to make and sell enchants on the AH. It's not huge money, but it pays for repair bills and flasks and stuff.

Other ways to save/make money include
-do wintergrasp quests each week and the daily bg each day and turn in stone keeper shards for honor, use the honor to buy epic gems, and sell them on the AH. If you're a JC or know one, even better.
-I use my tailoring cooldown every 4 days to make ebonweave or moonshroud, which still sells for up to 200g each. Frostweave bags with any leftover imbued frostweave also keep selling well, for some reason bags never go out of style. Titansteel is less profitable and still need any i make to try and level BS, but once you don't need to level it, making eternal buckles and titansteel will net you a steady income.
-running random pugs is a steady cash injection now if you dont wipe. Use the extra badges as well to buy and auction epic gems.

So, really, buying gold is for the chronically lazy. An hour or two max every week to use your CD's and craftskills to turn a profit is all you really need. Just have to know what's in demand (gems, enchants, flasks, and glyphs always will be).

I do exactly the same. Been lending out gold since there is really nothing I want to buy in the game at the moment.
