About gold selling.

I do my fishing and cooking dailies (which takes about 10 minutes to do for me) as well as my daily rare->epic gem transmute which I sell on the AH. That makes me about 200g.

Also, I fish up glacial salmon and pygmy suckerfish. The salmon sells for about 50g a stack and takes less than 10 minutes to get a stack. I use the suckerfish to make guru's elixir which sells at 60g a stack. Combining both of them makes for about 160g for every 15 minutes of fishing.

Another good place to fish is wintergrasp. The fish you get there is glacial salmon, nettlefish and musselback sculpin, all used for fish feasts. And you can use the spices from your cooking daily, (or exchange cooking badges for them). The fish feasts sell for about 10g each.

The only thing about making gold is that you have to dedicate time to it. You can't expect to make lots of gold just by doing things casually. I managed to get the 3k gold needed for all of the kirin tor ring upgrades in less than a week.

Been lending out gold since there is really nothing I want to buy in the game at the moment.

ORLY? My DK wants a mechano hog. :D

Unfortunately you are right, but...

Simply put, i use the two professions of the game that have each a daily cool-down skill and a very short daily quest namely Alchemy and Jewel-crafting. Alchemy lets you transmute lesser gems intto an epic gem of your choice which by itself (if cut with your JC skill) is worth 180-240 gold. Also if you are a transmute-spec alchemist, you have a chance to get 2,3,4 or 5 gems at one time from one transmutation (albeit a slim chance). From Jewel-crafting you get a daily short quest that has a Dragon's eye gem as reward(well you buy it with the q-reward). This gem alone is worth 100-150 gold, but you can use your JC to cut it into a Nightmare's tear which is worth 150-190 gold ATM. JC also lets you create an icy-prism, on a daily cool-down, which has a chance of yielding another epic gem.

Regards.

OMG I wish I knew this years ago... Honestly Im quite shocked that you freely give out this advice?

I really appreciate it though, coz when I get home Im dumping the blacksmith trade and taking up alchemy

thanks man, coz I have always struggled with farming for mining and the server Im on... well the bar prices are soooo low! :wtf:

While good advice overall, I personally would avoid the transmutation mastery. I've had it for years and the proc chance is very slim. You'll likely get it to proc once very two weeks or so if you transmute once a day. The only change you'll get for more procs is if you do the earthsiege or skyflare diamonds.

Elixir or potion mastery procs happen more often, since you do more of those at a time. I switched over from transmutation to elixir. You can still do all of the available transmutations.

ok so what lvl does this advice become realistic?

I mean Im only lvl 38 right now, so Im guessing this doesnt become a viable option until im much higher level?

I make about 10000g on average per week, probably more. It's not tough.

Edit: Thought it was a bit rough to post this without some more info. Professions are Enchanting and Inscription. It takes between 15min and 30min each day. I have 3 bankers selling stuff. I have stacks of 5 of each glyph in my bags split across the 3 bankers and post 2 stacks of 1 each on the AH at any time. Use Quick Auctions to do the posting. Do the same with enchants (most of the top and next level ones). Also sell Snowfall inks, Runescrolls and Darkmoon decks which I make as a by product of the glyphs.

ok that is great and all, but if you have 20 toons all lvl 80 then we know why

I would like to know if its viable to make money at my level?

I just posted more info above. I have only 1 level 80. You can make reasonable gold at your level but some of the stuff is only available once you get to level 68.

If you want to make gold at lower levels, stick to gathering professions. Herbalism and Skinning should be good for a bit.

Yeah, you won't make money on tradeskills till 80. LEvelling them up is actually a money sink. If you want to make money while levelling, as Abe mentions : gathering skills. Mining/Herbing plus skinning. There are always a number of bankolled alts out there who'll buy up stuff like copper and iron ore at huge premiums in order to skill up blacksmithing or engineering or w/e quickly. Ofc the problem with this strategy is that once you hit 80, your potential for making money drops, and flying around mining saronite or w/e at 80 is incredibly boring as opposed to simply using your daily/weekly cooldowns.

I make about 1k gold a day just with Alchemy on my Druid. (Takes about 10 minutes max)

I buy a stack of Frost Lotus off the AH for 1000g, I then make 20x Flask of endless Rage with Procs I then sit with close to 60 Pots.

50 (give or take) x 35g
Transmute Epic Gem: 150g - 200g

This is what I do daily when I log in. Sometimes the Frost lotus is cheaper than 50g each sometimes more expensive but this is the average.

It seriously takes me 10 minutes and I log on an Alt.

I love the fact that ICC is so hard, flasks are FLYING :)

My DK is a Scribe and Herbalist and found that lately the drop rate of Frost Lotus has been completely nerfed (which was my primary source of income). I think I only got 3 so far this week that I used for my own flasks :( Thank goodness for a high demand for other herbs and Crystallized Life.

Na, the drop rate is the same.

I have found that farming frost lotus in the wee hours of the morning produce about 12 an hour in WGrasp, same as it used to 4 months ago.

Of those 12, 6 will be actual growing frost lotus, which every ~10th one produces an extra one.

I suspect that the extra demand simply means that you're competing with others who do nothing but farm only growing frost lotus. They fly around in that superfast flying form and only stop when they find an actual growing frost lotus.

What's worse is that exploiters mine this stuff underground i.e. beneath the map - and WG is the worst hit. The first few times I just thought that the nodes were despawning but have since seen the name tags and even screenshot two as evidence for GMs.

However my warrior (the miner) is alliance and I don't play it and my horde rogue is a skinner/leatherworker. Arctic fur is worthless now that you can trade leathers for it and leatherworking has suffered a similar fate (leg armor).

I might drop skinning and take another gathering profession for the gold - herbalism or mining or probably the way to go.

Transmute master alchemy has been earning me quite a bit of cash, I've managed to proc 5 Cardinal Rubies twice now. I'll post screens when I can.

WotlK Ore is almost worthless on Eonar (lower lvl ore still sells quite well tho), I think thats how the chineese farmers make their gold.

Infinite Dust prices are also way down so no one wants to buy and de my greenies anymore :(

DISCLAIMER: USE OF THIS INFO AT OWN RISK. I WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE IF YOU LOSE ALL YOUR WOW GOLD WHILE ATTEMPTING THIS. SERVER ECONOMIES DIFFER.

You can make an absolute slaughtering on the AH with Frost Lotus, provided you have the needed capital to start gouging the market.
I am currently doing this on my server and the profits are rolling like crazy.

I started a new banker solely for this purpose.
I gave him 28k in starting capital.

Every day, at 6:30pm servertime i log him in and buyout ALL the frost lotus under 70g.
Takes me about 2 mins. Yes there is a lot initially, but after about 3 days you will have depleted the open market and the quantities dwindle,

Log back on your main and do one random dungeon.

Log back to banker. Buyout all under 70g again. another 2 mins.

Log your other 80 (if you have) and do a random dungeon. (or do w/e the heck you please)

Repeat untill 7:30 - 7:45pm servertime.

At that timeframe, deplete again the last few (if any) under 70g.
Now post back 10 frost lotus at 75g+ each, in singles only.

Post a msg in trade channel, that "Frost Lotus is on AH, get it before its gone!"

Most raiders start at 8pm server time.
Most of those raiders are sloppy planners and dont stock on flasks unless they need them NOW.
Most of those raiders have friends to make flasks for them at raid, if they provide mats.

I started posting 10, but within 38 seconds of my trade channel msg they were all sold.
I posted another 15 at 85g each. Took 2 mins for those to sell.

At the moment, I am posting up a flat 80 frost lotus' at the specified timeframe, and they all sell.

You might be thinking that im running at a loss, but i assure you im not.
That banker is currently sitting at 218k gold. His bank is fully loaded with haris pilton bags, and no more space due to leftover frost lotus.
I have since also been forced to make his own 1-man guild for the guildbank tabs. Currently at 4 tabs full of leftovers and another almost halfway full.

Does it matter what i do with these leftovers?
No.
Will it ever matter?
No.
Would ppl still buy my Frost Lotus if i doubles the price?
Very likely yes.
I might try that tonight just for giggles.

Careful with the above. Selling at 75G nets you 67G50S after the AH takes it's cut. So essentially you losing money on every Frost lotus you buy between 68G50 and 69G99. Also, many on Twiligh'ts Hammer are trying this and peeps are putting them in for 12H periods, effectively losing their deposit.

Assuming you buy at 60G each...hardly seems worth it to make a miserly 7G50....

That would depend entirely on the volume being moved.

Of course....little obvious that statement. Problem is the day you list 200-300 and I come in and undercut you by 2G a unit for every day for 3 weeks. Then you lose your deposit...no matter how many units you got listed. I have driven lesser sellers out of the market many times by employing this technique. I can easily absorb the loss, question is whether or not the guys who think they going to make gold out of these internet techniques can. You will not believe how effective it is when someone suddenly loses 500-600G in deposits every day.
