Anyone tried to install this on a rooted phone and managed to get anything other than a blank white screen?

As far as I know once your phone is rooted no banking app works will have to unroot

/waits till banks put a disclaimer you're using a rooted device, any fraud and you're on your own.

Any luck with this?
Tried rootcloak and a few others, no dice with ABSA.

I'm running Magisk and have hidden root for it

Could you please give some more detail on this?

Anyone got this working by other means?

I've been running Absa v5.4 as it was the last version to work for me on my rooted device. It displays an error message on start up but still continues to work.

I received an SMS from Absa last month stating that the old version of the app (5.4) will stop working yesterday (7 May). Well it's still working but I'm not sure for how much longer, so looking for alternatives.

I've also tried RootCloak and it doesn't work with the new Absa app.

Well 3 weeks later it's still working.

As an alternative I've just created a Chrome shortcut

Anyone found an answer yet? This pathetic bank is doing nothing to rectify their issues. 90% of comments on the app store are from users not even being able to open the app.

UPDATE 2 - 6/21/2017: Most all of the below methods no longer work, especially on devices with Lollipop or higher Android. Currently the only effective method of hiding root access is using Magisk to root the device and use Magisk Manager to enable the Magisk Hide module and hide root from the app in question. Since this is an old question and I am just updating an answer, here is an article describing how to do it and below is a pretty rough guide to doing it.

Summary of steps:

Remove old root method complete, this may mean you need to restore stock or reflash your ROM. Some ROMs have root built in, so check with your ROM maintainer/developer.
Flash the Magisk installer ZIP using TWRP or other custom recovery
Download and install Magisk Manager
Swipe from left and go to Settings and enable Magisk Hide
Press Back and select Magisk Hide
Scroll through the Magisk Hide menu and select the applications you wish to hide root from
Your app should no longer detect that you have root.

Haven't tried it myself. Haven't rooted in ages and have mostly idevices now

looks like they did any update which now blocks magisk as well

edit - in magisk settings had to enable the setting that changes the magisk manager name

I unrooted and removed a few of my system apps that I installed from the Play Store and the app has been working flawlessly ever since.

i refuse that absa will dictate to me whether my devices are rooted or not
