Absa Banking Charges

Haven't anyone considered the R100/month bundled option? All transactions, & internet banking & cheques included.

I was sort of forced to be with ABSA due to the student loan I have with them. But except for the occasional long queues (branch-dependant), and the occasional process-perfection-pimply-faced kid consultant, I haven't had any trouble from them. The odd R25 or so bucks more I pay for their banking fees (compared to FNB for e.g.), I just justify as 2 beers less at a pub.

Maybe my expectations are just low, or maybe I'm just lucky, but ABSA has been sufficient for me.

[disclaimer: I have no shares in ABSA]

i've had it with absa's bank charges. i pay roughly R400 /month on my cheque account (and i don't even make cash withdrawals on this account). it's f%^$%$@king ridiculous! i've started taking my business accounts & investments over to nedbank. and i can't believe the fast & efficient service i'm getting PLUS the surprisingly low bank charges.

in my research i found FNB had the lowest overall bank charges, but if i have to queue for longer than 5 minutes i redline a bit. so that's why i didn't go there.

I pay more bank charges than the GDP of most small African states but I still love ABSA.

LOL! I used to have a savings account with them.. (Should still be there but they closed it). But if you leave R50.00 in it the fees use it up!? WTF! Before this monster absa chowed up the building societies R50.99 would have earned some interest.
