I just noticed the following on my transaction history:

2008-02-29
INTERNET BANK FEE
R -19.95

2008-03-01
ADMIN CHARGE
R -19.00

2008-03-01
MANAGEMENT FEE
R -15.00

What are all those about? Unless I'm mistaken it is usually about R20 a month, not R50? This is a student savings account.

These are my monthly ABSA bank charges.

2008-02-29 INTERNET BANK FEE
-46.65

2008-03-01 MIN SERVICE FEE
-30.00

2008-03-01 TRANSACTION CHARGE
-179.90

2008-03-01 ADMIN CHARGE
-57.35

I hate ABSA.

they do the same with me - not only that - each of my 3 accounts - cheque, savings & cc are charged individually each month for internet banking ... bastards

Moving over to FNB this weekend

Welcome to ABSA ... today, tomorrow, f**k you.

:D

that's the fee per month for internet banking. it says that when you sign up. R19.95 or close to it.

Does FNB have better charges? I notice they've got Suze Orman doing their commercials now. I'm a big fan of her - I've been doing some calls for her at work and she strikes me as a very impressive person.

I would like to know this to as for Absa II pay an internet banking fee and another admin fee for my check account which comes close to R160

ya they're unscrupulous thieves no doubt about it. Their internet banking is very good though.

are you with Absa merc?

You know to be honest I've been thinking about taking them up on this stuff for a while now. It's ridiculous the amount of charges they sneak off my account.

Oooh .. there's a summary feature of how much I paid:
---------------------------------------------------------------
Service particulars at time of debit

Registered for Internet Banking Yes
Registered for Cellphone Banking Yes
Cost account xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Total number of chargeable transactions in this month 23
Summary

Cost type Amount
Monthly fee 17.50 (VAT Excluded)
Transaction cost Internet 97.46 (VAT Excluded) [EXPANDED BELOW]
Transaction cost Cellphone 0.00 (VAT Excluded)
Total cost 114.96 (VAT Excluded)
VAT Payable 16.09
Total debit 131.05
Breakdown

Transaction type Channel Volume Free Charge
Alerts via sms Internet 3 0 0.00
Own defined payment (to an account) Internet 5 0 54.39
Notice of payment via e-mail Internet 3 0 1.05
Bill payment (to a beneficiary) Internet 2 0 15.70

---------------------------------------------------------------
That's 131.05 = 23 transactions = 5.6 rand per transaction.
HOLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE CARP!
That's 6 bucks each time I look at the bastardz!

[Okay .. i realised that the 97.46 is the internet banking charges .. where I get charged for not wasting their teller's time .. YAY!]

yes. i think you should speak to them. most people probly sit back and do nothing and that's why they get away with it. i actually got a double-billed dstv account this month. i need to have a look at that.

I'm used to the UK/US situation where there are NO charges whatsoever. Internet banking, checking, it's all 100% free.

yeah absa has the most expensive banking charges, i had an absa and an FNB account but the FNB is like 70% cheaper so i closed my absa account and moved everything to FNB

FNB has much better charges. My g/f moved over to them recently. I think it is a total fee of R60/m. This includes ATM, internet banking, in-contact, etc.

I would move, but they don't support BP FuelMaster and I don't want to loose my 7-digit account number.
