ABSA credit card fee rip-off

Resurrection....

Just noticed these monthly fees on my credit card for the first time. They've been charging it for a few months. R15+R25.

Back when I first got the card there was just an annual fee of R50, think in around mid 2006. At first glance R40 pm seems excessive (R480 pa) as I always assumed my credit card was basically a free service with a minor fee. Now I know it's not...

I am trying to pay up my credit card and build up a balance worth the same as what I could use on my card. Then use that fund as I would use a credit card. I will make money(interest) and have no "Credit" or other fees. Also the interest cancels out my banking fees.

Either go for the Virgin Money card or Bluebean card.

BlueBean Black - No monthly fees provided you spend R2000.00 per month on the card.
Virgin Money - No monthly fees, but heir internet banking portal sucks ass. I have gotten a Bluebean black card and their portal is much nicer.

What he said! I've had a Virgin Money card for years and is also verrrrry cheap if you do withdrawal overseas!

sounds like a plan. even though ucount has been pulled down rewards. there are still rewards to be earned doing my normal monthly stuff. but that monthly charge pisses me off no end. they do ****all admin.

Same charges here, but then in my cheque account I have the following:

CREDIT CARD REBATE
25.00

So technically only R15 p/m.

Maybe check yours?

Just checked my FNB. CC account fee is 23 and Credit Facility Credit Fee (what ever that suppose to mean) is R.11. Total of R.34 p/m. Capitec is like R.5 p/m and Virgin Money is free.

Anyone else get charged extra this month on their ABSA credit card? I've got 3 charges, I've got "monthly credit card account fee" for R15, "MONTHLY ACCOUNT FEE" for R15 and "CREDIT SERVICE FACILITY FEE" for R25. What's up with the double R15 charge?

I have:
CREDIT LIFE PREMIUM Amount (R) . -8.65
CREDIT FACILITY SERVICE FEE Amount (R) . -25
SMS FEE Amount (R) . -13
MONTHLY ACCOUNT FEE Amount (R) . -15

Then on my Cheque account I they give me back R25:
CREDIT CARD REBATE Amount (R) . 25.00

Thanks for the heads-up, now have a look at your Rewards statement and try to figure that out. They debited the account to compensate for and apparent error but it doesn't add up.

I also has a -R15 off my rewards, no idea why.

Hi y'all

I need to understand something please, tried ABSA call center but the agents ai.. don't know, anyway.

I was gonna receive my statement the 24th of every month but then I changed my due date to my salary date.

I would like to know from you, how many days do you get after you received your CC statement for your due date?

How does the 57 days interest free work, do you get 57 Days for every individual purchase or does the 57 i.f.days only start afetr you receive your statement.
