Got a call from some research group this morning. Thay called on behalf of ABSA to check levels of satisfaction with my husband concerning his experience of small business bankning at ABSA.

Wow, was that fun.

Told her exactly what we think of them, how we dislike them and how bad their service is - not occasionally, but consistently.

I then told her that, for her own safety, it would be better not to call my husband, because he gets even more riled up about this than I do :)

Hope more people give their honest inputs when contacted.

This would be an awesome whackhead prank situation

It's always good to give a company your honest opinion, as long as you're not rude about it though, and we all know someone that gets really worked up when they get calls such as there :|

They phoned me and I gave them good scores. But that was because I was busy with something and just wanted it over.

Is saying "ABSA's service is particularly bad" and "ABSA's staff training does not even come close to reaching the benchmark for acceptability" rude?

If yes, I take pride in my rudeness.

Each time they call me to offer me life insurance, credit cards, house insurance or whatever they think I may want I tell them exactly what I think of them.

Lol, I don't believe that's being rude, that's just being bluntly honest, which is what they want from you. It's only rude when the bad language/name calling comes out :P

The problem is it doesn't really make a difference with ABSA

Yep.

Way to many issues with that bank. They need to really work at it and they need to bring those exorbitant prices down drastically before I will be happy enough to stay with them.

Problem is they outsource this stuff. So if you tell them exactly what a PoS ABSA is all they do is they make a mark in Bad column and the approval rating that ABSA sees drops 0.5%.

I have been with ABSA since they started calling themselves ABSA, around 1998. Before that, they called themselves Allied Bank. I opened my small business cheque account with Allied in 1992. I don't know the name of my Bank Manager or Small Business Consultant. I used to know both. Who cares? All South African banks are more or less the same.

ABSA was not called Allied before.

There were FOUR banks (Allied, TrustBank, United and Volkskas) which amalgamated into the monstrosity you now know as ABSA.

I walked into ABSA to open a business account about seven years ago. The consultant looked at me like I was something the cat had dragged in - jeans and a T-shirt. She was very snotty. Needless to say I wasn't impressed and went elsewhere.
