ABSA Internet Banking Unusable

I spoke finally to someone in ABSA and basically I requested a refund of my Internet banking fees for the month. He will pass it on to management. See what happens. But FNB with their lower costs is looking more and more attractive

you should try Nedbank. they just tell you that you cannot use the site due to unusual high volumes of traffic. frankly its not my problem. logged on to my other bank without any problems. makes you think.

They will probably e-mail you to say your request was turned down ......... and then proceed to debit your account for the cost of the e-mail.

Here is ABSA waxing lyrical about their new website:

Here at ABSA we regard your money (and the way you interact with it and move it around) as a very serious matter. So when we decided on the way our customers will bank online from now on, the decision was not taken lightly...

We approached the design and the functionality of our website revamp with you our valued customer in mind. Meticulous attention was paid to creating an online experience that was first and foremost secure and then also faster, easier and more convenient. We also set out to not fiddle with those products that have become a part of your daily financial activity, like the calculators and other handy tools, and they’re all still there.

We’re excited to welcome you to the result of months of research and tireless work by our team of internet security experts, designers and developers. Experience the friendly look of it, the enhanced functionality, the hassle free search options and the simplified navigation.

Absa and cutting-edge technology.
Better together.

[email protected] is standing by to put your mind at ease. Email us with your security questions.

Perhaps we should do as ABSA suggests and email their web team with our opinions on their new website.

My question is, is it the site or the db?

/me leans towards db. :D

What does db mean?

I got a response from them! Oh wait, it was computer-generated. OMG, what a surprise. NOT!

It reads:

Dear Customer

Thank you for your response.

We value your feedback.

This email service is available from Monday to Friday between 8.30am and 16.30pm.

This is a standard response and you need not respond to this email.

Kind regards
Absa Web Team

Haha you missed the 16:30 cut-off time by a few minutes :D

OT: I don't ever recall having to send an email to FNB since everything just works. If there is a ever service interruption to their online banking, then it's usually planned and there will be a notice on their homepage informing you of it.

Nedbank is also down. Says they are experiencing high volumes and I must try again later. If I want, I can use the older internet banking site...but I am too scared to! Bastards!

Yes just had an email from ABSA, they are blaming the increased traffic due to year end and month end. I had some worse response times on FNB and Nedbank, but not to the extent liek ABSA's which was totally unworkable. (The other banks must have experienced a higher load as normal as well, today, but at least they did not seem to totally buckle while ABSA's did basically grind to a halt

ABSA you $uck ($ucking your customers dry and just $uck in general)

The old site works! Whenever they have problems, I go to the old link - always works

Huh! you'd think the 'new' stuff would work better - just goes to show - with tech, new is not always better
