It goes without saying, switch them to a proper email service, like Gmail, set Gmail up to retrieve the absamail email, and then they'll gradually be completely moved across. No pain, and no suffering with Absamail.

thats the thing, i set it up to go through gmail as they have pretty good spam filters and then pulled it through with outlook. i found the error from gmail and worked my way to here. must be an absa F up.

Did the email stop working while the email was still setup to receive though Outlook?
(I'm wondering if its not some fancy port numbering Absamail wants)

Had the same problem earlier the week - there was something wrong with authentication on the Telkom ADSL line. The problem went away after a day.

I would suggest that they use the ABSA webmail panel until the problem is resolved:

Just a heads up on this matter. In the day when ABSA mail was Free "absafreemail", I had an account, since they discontinued it, it moved hands to @lantic en now Vox, maybe the same firm? The problem is that a debit order is still going off since March 2008 on my ABSA account without me having to confirm such a debit order or renewed contract that should be the case if a Company change name. They simply transported all those clients to the paid service and Vox is raking in the money for a service that you though were not existing anymore! So, check your debit orders for VoxtelecomR****

I've still got my absamail address. It was just easier than to migrate everything over. There was a time they were going to migrate or remove everyone, but that never happened presumably because keeping the service running costs them next to nothing and they can charge for it.

Personally, I'm perfectly happy paying them +- R25pm to keep it active.

I think maybe sometime 2 years back I stopped being able to collect from the absamail box. Never had to pay for it.

When we were with iburst at R200/month we had 5 aliases on the mailbox. The company that took over the mail clients was charging a small value that we were held on to the 5 boxes for undet R50. After a few months they bumped the price up. Now paying R300/month dor email. Iburst gave email and 10GB at R200.

Had our own domain and email for 10 years but the boss could not be convinced to spend a few moments to update his contacts. Pissed away over R10 000 over the last 3 years.
