Hi there

Some people complained about a SIM swap fraud warning with ABSA when using its online portal. ABSA seems to have acknowledged on their Fraud Hotline that a Sim Swap Issue on their website is causing problems.

Have you seen this problem today?

Also getting it (incorrectly)...

WTF do they even detect that you've had a sim swap (legitimately or not). It's borderline an invation of privacy as far as I'm concerned.

I don't think it's a valid error. Probably one of the programmers deployed that without testing. it's clearly not working and is inconveniencing us. I promised sars I will pay them yesterday and I am unable to due to ABSA messing up with my internet banking.

Last time I *did* in fact do a sim swap, and immediately got the issue. This time, I *didn't* do a sim swap, and they still think I did.

There's obviously an issue right now.

I just called them now and they transferred me to the Fraud department to remove the error on my IB

So you want to go back to the SIM swap fraud issue that was all the rage in 2013?

Agree here supersunbird, I think the cellphone providers actually detect and notify them - its a cool security measure. I rather have it fail once in a while like this, than have all my money stolen when I think my bank is going to sms me, but some bloke has hijacked my phone number.
