ABSA's latest trick

There should be a new version of that advert where more than half of the acorn gets eaten by the bank depicted by a grizzly bear and the squirrel only just escapes without being eaten by the grizzly bear.

Haha...nice one. :)

Hmmm. Blunomore is Bluagain, isn't it? ;)

Banks are the worst of the corporates! Easiest would be to go to the branch, ask to speak to the branch manager, using the threat of closing all your accounts and moving to another bank... worked for a friend of mine! :) Suddenly they were very helpful! :D

Know what gets to me? The fact that one nowadays have to make use of threats etc.. in order just to get basic service....

In general service levels across the board in most service industries have gone down the crapper in a big way.... not even speaking about basic product and industry knowledge.

4 years on and the same issues still? Nooit. ABSA improved? Don't think so, and I "told you so". Been like this ever since Volkskas became ABSA or whatever. A lot of people didn't/don't want to change banks because of some loyalty. Miss 1 payment. I dare you, even if you phone them 2 months prior to say that you're going to miss 1 payment and arrange a good faith payment as well as a date when the full payment will be made, they'll start suing and threatening you with the credit bureau/lawyers.

So I find it quite normal to threaten them bank. I usually threaten to burn down their house. It works most of the time. The call center agents never really hear that type of personal threat to them. I'm probably listed somewhere and monitored by the Hawks

At least the dividends makes up for all the pain they cause LOL

Fecken crooks.

What they call bank charges to make it seem more fancy.

4 years on and their online support/service if one can call it is, is still dismal
I asked one question on their new messaging service while logged into their new banking site (which in my opinion is far worse that the old one)
The simple question was -" can one have more than one OTP cell number so if one travels overseas using cell c (which cannot manage sms roaming!!) can I direct the otp's to a prepaid vodacom sim ?
simple enough i thought.
Well not so simple
On submission of this query I received a database corruption error (just hoped it was not the database handling my money) please try again later.
Tried about 5 more times before I decided to resort to the actionline email address.
Received a relatively prompt automated response. A couple of days later received a response saying they apologise for the delay and the query has been referred to a consultant.
Eventually after several more emails about 21 days later received a response "No you can only have 1 OTP" !!!!
(while all this was going on I created an extra user with a new cell number on FNB all online (took less time than submitting my first query to absa)
Their online messaging service now 6 weeks later still has a corrupt database so am busy moving the last of my money out in case this database corruption spreads to the money database.
