Accentronix Gate Question

Hi all,

So I have some questions and I'm hoping someone can help me.
We have a Accentronix Gate setup.

They posted this on the control panel: Attention: 2G Mobile Network Sunset — Your Access Control System may be affected soon!! Learn more
The issue we are having now is, the gate is often in GREEN / RED status but now suddenly, mostly RED / RED status.

(currently)

With signal of 10/12 (Vodacom is 10, MTN is 12)

(Vodacom is bad in the area, with MTN being better)

They are saying we need to upgrade the unit to 4G - but to do that, it will cost us like R15000± (to upgrade the unit)

So I guess;

1st question: 2G mobile network sunset is not due yet - or for a while correct?
2nd question: When is it due - and is it / has it been done in the Vredehoek area.

Ultimately, we can't afford R15000 right now to upgrade the unit - but also, I feel like this is just a push to get us to upgrade - when maybe even a booster could help? (Short term solution)

I'm really hoping someone else out there can help me understand this 'make' (Accentronix) better

Latest deadlines for shutdown of both 2G and 3G is December 2027.. but the initial March 2024 deadline was not met, so it's a no one really knows situation..

I'd say be ready by December 2027 to replace your unit, just in case..

That's what I figured and goes with what I know.

I'm just trying to figure out why NOW (in our area) the gates reception has dropped luck a truck and is constantly in RED / RED status.

I'm really hoping someone here knows these units and can help me out.

Each intercom system uses a SIM card from a mobile ISP. If the nearest tower in your area is offline, you may get no signal.

Our block has a very old intercom, still connected to a Telkom landline, but will be upgrading in the near future. There are pros and cons to everything...
