Hi

I have one of those little Billion routers and I'd like to be able to access the html service panel remotely.

I've set up port forwarding on xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:80 to the router's local IP. When I'm connected to the local network and I try to browse to our external IP it opens the service panel. However, if I try from outside of the local network I can't connect.

Any suggestions?

EDIT: Cancelled the port forwarding and browsed to the external IP while connected to the local network. It opened the service panel - so port forwarding isn't affecting that at all.

Check with your ISP, sometimes they block incoming connections. eg. on mweb you have to login to their website and turn that thing off.

There should be a management section, which allows you to select if your device can be managed and where from.
Which model is it?

You can probably manage it internally because it is set to allow it. You shouldnt need to port forward anything if this is directly connected to the internet.

Thanks tau1z. It's a Bipac 5200. There is an "access management" tab, but I'm not sure what the settings should be to allow remote access.

That's what I've been doing. But running firefox via SSH is crazy slow!

Hi Speedster,

Navigate to the ACL section under the Access Management menu, then setup a rule to allow WAN access.

Thanks! That helped a ton. Got it working in no time this morning - just had to know what to set.

For security reasons I won't use port 80. Setup a forwarding rule (Virtual Server) to forwarding port 60 or something else to the router on port 80.
