accident with no insurance help

As a private individual you're more likely to get shafted, insurers have set rates and they send out assessors to make sure that the panelbeaters dont take liberties. They also have more bargaining power.

Not true.

Same as with Medical aids. You go to a doctor and pay cash you get a cash rate, when you claim from your medical aid the Doctor charges whatever they allow. Since he needs to wait up to 3 months for payment and having someone do the follow ups wrc payments and so on with the Medical aid.

Same happens with insurance and Panel beaters.

You're missing the point, why must I spend more on an excess waiver because of someone that doesn't take out insurance? I can understand if you cant afford insurance but I refuse to believe that 3rd party insurance is out of reach.

well yesterday we called the lady who does our insurance and she says they no more do 3rd party without covering your house as well ...i am not a home owner so im not sure weather this is a new rule or law or something

I think Third party in this case refers to the insurance company rather than 3rd party insurance..

And in such a case, the "third party" can claims from the guilty party purely due to the 3rd party being out of pocket due to the actions of the guilty party, regardless of contract or not.

Oh and Voicy, its Lye, not Lime... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lye

I suspect that Voicy was referring to Quicklime http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calcium_oxide

Used when burying animals culled in Foot and Mouth outbreaks.

OMG, its not the same as the medical aid industry at all. If you have no understanding of the insurance industry then rather dont comment.

I have a feeling that the reason you take offense to me getting upset about this is because you yourself probably didnt have insurance at some point.

@Pitbull, regarding excess, say someone were to crash into me without insurance, i claim from my insurance, i have to pay excess, chances of getting excess back are slim imo

No you're right. But I would much rather lose a couple R100. Think about the other person who now needs to repair their car as well. Look at the OP as an example, he now has to fix her car (or pay for it) and still repair his car also. He is getting shafted all because he has no insurance. He is getting the blunt end of the deal not her who has insurance :)

what medical aid are you on that does not tell you that it covers up to 400% cos thats the cost doctors charge medical aid firms ....

i think people are over estimating the damage most of all ....yeah i have to fix up a light and grill and her car but it could have been much worse ....and if it was doesnt make a difference i still would have to cover .....

LOL!!!

:erm: ok yes you are right and I lose.

ROFLMAO!!! Are you serious? I'm arguing with you being thick headed because I have no insurance?

That must be it, I'll go cancel it now so prove you right /facepalm

@Pitbull I said at some point, are you ignorant or just stupid?

In you're eyes prob. both.

I know why I pay insurance and it gives me peace of mind. If you think you're paying insurance because you need to then that's your problem I guess...

now now chillax peeps

remember depeding on peoples insurance it can range anything from a few hundred to a few thousand, eg: R1500 - R8500 on a high excess, can even be a % based excess

Mine says NHRPL at 300%

Prob just mine then.

just fyi for all medical aids differ, some cover 200%, some cover 300% etc and some have a top up option to cover a higher say 400% etc

depends on your medical aid and plan, even on some medical aids there is a difference across the plans.
