Any suggestions for some book keeping software for a small operation?

Preferably free.

Any ideas wrt Pastel pricing?

That's R150/pm so the installable version works out cheaper at R999

Sure, but it is accessible from any pc with internet. So you don't have to struggle to put it on more than one PC and if you are somewhere and need to so something, you just log on.

Yup, you can do multiusers on the Online version. Also has auto bank feeds, you link it to your bank account and it pulls in all the transactions from your bank account automatically every day.

Oh and it has a customer zone now. You can enable your customers to have customer Zone individually, upon emailing them an invoice, there will be a link on for an online version, they can then see their whole account, Invoices, statements, credit notes, send you a message, etc. All online.

Have a look at Pastel MyBusiness online. Is really brilliant - has stock, debtors, creditors and cash books. Goes one step further with the bank statement imports and allows bank feeds where it automatically downloads the latest transactions. Are some new features coming soon like stock multi-stores etc. Pricing is R150 per month for 2 companies and 2 users and 1 Gb data storage.

Yes, just joined up. I am so impressed with it, I am going to be moving my accounts from Partner v12 to My Business Online, especially being able to use my Iphone or iPad (there are android and windows phone apps are well) to do invoices etc onsite, that are emailed directly to the client.
