Hi Formates.

A user has Linux Limpus Lite on the Acer, he connects to his router wireless without a problem and can ping other machines on the network, but does not get any internet connection. He then plugged in the Ethernet cable tried to ping the router and get nothing.

User a cross over cable and connected to his machine to the other windows laptop and can ping the ping the other machine no problem. (Ethernet port is working then)

Anybody has any advice?

It looks like a DNS issue to me.
Can you ping www.google.co.za ? if not can you ping 74.125.79.147 if you can its your DNS; try using an ext DNS if you pointing it to your router.

Code:
route -n

check to see what default gateway is (if one even exists). It's the one with destination 0.0.0.0

Also
Code:
cat /etc/resolv.conf

Make sure it points to the appropriate DNS servers, or the router's address (if the router is configured to forward DNS).

This is, of course, assuming that the router has a definite Internet connection and is sharing it as such (evidenced by other computers on the network being able to access the Internet).
