Acid reflux

Hip fracture, bone fractures etc, not only that but it's also preventing your stomach from working correctly as it's shutting off the acid. I found something called mastic gum that might kill off h pylori, the bacteria that causes ulcers, acid reflux and heart burn, just need to get my hands in something called DGL licorice but non of the stores have them not even dischem

you can chew any sugar free, non mint gum to help with the reflux. chew gum with flavours like strawberry, water melon etc. my hubby did this before his op and it did help a bit.

Stop smoking and drinking alcohol, diet needs to be adjusted

my husband doesn't smoke and never has, and doesn't drink. so that is of no help and also doesn't explain that diet.

Ive been using ALTOSEC 20 for the last 2 months, single tablet in the morning after before meals. Havent had any incidents since, doctor that recommended it said its had really good results and is safe to even take for a prolonged period of time.

I was on altosec for 6 months for my sliding hernia - works wonders

Have not been back to get repeat script

i also suffered from bad heartburn, take 7 grains of white rice with 2 glasses of cool water(not cold)every morning before you consume anything, do this for 3 months straight, works wonders

Avoid PPIs at all costs. Google PPI to see why.
Also if the op in question is the esophageal sphincter op, then avoid if possible. Its a very high risk op with multiple possible complications afterwards.

Try Siberian pine Nut Oil, from any health shop. I was very skeptical at first, but it works and I was able to drop Altosec.

every operation carries a high risk to it, even something as simple as having an appendix removed. no one can say for sure that any operation will be 100% successful until it is done and you are in the clear. but then that is going to be minority of the population that will experience any problems. i know of 3 people who have had this done, one being my husband, and every single one of them have not looked back.

your life will return to normal after this operation, just as it will return to normal after any other operation you may need to fix something that is causing you problems in life.

Been on altosec 25 works wonders that stuff

Just want to add, a temporary extreme diet change can be useful to recover, e.g. steak & egg diet. Check that crazy idea.

Most important advice though.. don't trust doctors. They are more clueless and greedy than what they seem. Prescribing PPI's before a real cause is known is dumb, but that's what they do.

A useful tip that helped me. It sounds dumb, but breathe deeply whenever you remember throughout the day to trigger digestion. Whether vagus nerve stimulation is real or not, its good for you. :)

Celine who is the best doctor for this opp?

if you can get an appointment with a doctor blignaut i would highly recommend him. he works around the country on different days, and we only found this out when we got to know who he is. on a monday he is durban, the the rest of the week he will be in jhb, etc. so you need to try find what day he is in your province. he specialises in this area and is the top surgeon in the country.

I was diagnosed with a hernia more than 12 years ago and recommended the same op, by one of the best gastro specialists in the country.

I didn't buy it as I simply didn't have all the symptoms I was supposed to have except for the odd reflux. I actually went to him because of IBS related pain in my colon and general lower bowel area, but instead after spending a fortune on every test was told my problem is the valve/sphincter at my stomach and my diaphragm needs to be fixed.

Changed my diet and started just living a little bit healthier and now 12 years later I'm happy I didn't fall for this operation (which potentially needs to be done again and again every couple of years) and guess what...no reflux either.

I am trying mastic gum, by solal, and a probiotic and I am noticing less occurrence of heart burn, I also notice that breathing helps sooth it, I started to eat smaller portions as well and I don't smoke so nothing to quit there. I think I have h pylori, waiting for my results to come back to confirm, basically all these years of taking NSAIDS for headaches and pain may have eaten up my stomach lining creating a heaven for h pylori which is a bacteria that causes reflux, heartburn and ulcers, antibiotics don't kill this bacteria, I have researched a lot online and a lot of people claim that mastic gum cured their symptoms.

Hey guys, suffer from major acid reflux after every meal, been for scopes, doctors say everything is fine, been on nexium for over 6 months but I decided to drop it as it's bad if taken for a long period. Anyone got some solutions, remedies I can try.
