Hey guys, suffer from major acid reflux after every meal, been for scopes, doctors say everything is fine, been on nexium for over 6 months but I decided to drop it as it's bad if taken for a long period. Anyone got some solutions, remedies I can try.

Try cutting down radically on carbs, especially sugary ones.

I have the same problem - was told to go for an op, I am not in favour of it. I am current using Lancap (OTC), working wonders, but not sure if this is the right way to go or if I should go for the op.

OTC is symptomatic relief. It doesn't resolve the issue.

Proton pump inhibitors are bad over long use of time, how long have you been on it, I tried the low carb diet nothing helps except for nexium

My advice is to keep your stomache digesting fast, which requires high acidity. High acidity is also required to maintain the correct bacteria. I was on acid suppressors which I believe was more detrimental. Try to gradually get to a point where you have no need for any antacids.

As mentioned in my post: skip grains, nuts, fruit, (raw/too much) veg, milk, and don't drink close to meals (avoids dilution / overfull stomach). I found that beef/chicken is good but not mentioned often.

I had dizzy spells and was unable to sleep due to acid reflux and I am now practically back to normal. I just take care not to over eat.

I have been using Lancap for quite a while - what are the negatives of it?

Problem is I am vegetarian (no fish meat or chicken), so already the food I can eat is minimal, what to do?

Hip fracture, bone fractures etc, not only that but it's also preventing your stomach from working correctly as it's shutting off the acid. I found something called mastic gum that might kill off h pylori, the bacteria that causes ulcers, acid reflux and heart burn, just need to get my hands in something called DGL licorice but non of the stores have them not even dischem

Lemon juice. The bottled stuff from picknpay or spar. Mix that with a glass of water in the morning before work/school/etc and you will never have acid again. I drink about 50ml in a 250ml glass, and I never have issues anymore. Used to be quite bad.

It needs to be mixed with water though, to give it a chance to spread around your gut - Don't just take the stuff straight.

After a little while, you will acquire a taste for it - I now mix it with almost everything I drink because I find myself enjoying the flavor!

And no, this is not an April Fool's prank - It really does help. ( And is natural )

You don't have problems with your teeth?

I can confirm that lemon juice works in conjunction with no meals after 6pm.
No alcohol esp beer. Go gluten free or low gluten diet

I would have acid reflux and heartburn issues every night.. but since I cut out the carbs in my diet, I have found that these have reduced dramatically.

I always suspected that I suffered from heart burn. I went to a specialist who put a line down my osophegus for 24 hours which measured acid levels. The doctor reckoned I was fine. Many years later my wife suspected I had bad heartburn. I went to Dr Jackson in linksfield. He did a camera type of scope and found 8 ulcers in my osphogus and stomach. All from acid. I have been on chronic medication called topzole which works wonders. You will only know the difference in life quality only once you are on the medication. I got so use to the heartburn that I forgot what it was like to be heartburn free. I hardly get sinus and upper respitory infections anymore as well, which was linked to the heart burn.

Ive been using ALTOSEC 20 for the last 2 months, single tablet in the morning after before meals. Havent had any incidents since, doctor that recommended it said its had really good results and is safe to even take for a prolonged period of time.

go for the op. my hubby had a bad hernia and also was reluctant about the op until he spoke to someone else who had it done, this person recommended it and so my hubby decided to do it. it's the best decision he has made he says. when he had the reflux he was sleeping with so many pillows to keep himself upright. he also couldn't eat specific foods because it gave him bad reflux. he hasn't looked back since having the op. he had it done last october.
