Who's fault is it that only a few people can afford broadband? Yours Paris. The provision of non sophisticated services comes part and parcel with broadband access - you cant have one without the other! The telecom activists have their critics. Icasa chairman Paris Mashile says they tend to lobby only on sophisticated services, which only a few people can afford, rather than campaigning for broadening telecom services.
Mr Mashile, how would you know what people are lobbying for? Have you actually read any of the public submissions to ICASA that us 'activists' have made? One example- Did you bother to read the ADSL hearing transcripts, since you were not there at the time?
Another 8 calls to ICASA today went unanswered. The ninth call at least got answered. But then I get the usual excuses "Paris is in a meeting, call back at 12:30". I call back at 12:30 and guess what? Another "meeting". You will not speak to us Mr Mashile, for a year I have tried... your staff constantly refuse to put me through to you, sometimes even hanging up on me.... you will not return my messages or calls... You will not speak with us on the issues... and then you think it's acceptable to go and make stuff up to the media. Your behaviour as a 'leader' is not acceptable.
For the record, although I am a part of Antitrust and have made a substantial contribution to Antitrust, I do not head up Antitrust.
Seems like he is not interested in doing the work he is supposed to do...
But he is happy to keep his snout deep in the piggy trough
