Which HTPC are you getting, not which supplier

ooh nice :)

be sure to start a thread of your setup & installation, and don't forget to add the pics!

My Antec remote software keeps blue screening or preventing my MS setup from waking from sleep. Useless drivers. Don't really care as I use my iPad or Logitech Edge to control my setup anyway. Case looks good though and I like the upgrade flexibility.

You can also consider the Antec NSK 2480 case. This is the same as the one you are considering but without the remote. In return you get an extra drive bay and it's cheaper.

FWIW, last month I put together the following:

- Intel I3-2100T
- Zotac H67-ITX-mobo
- 4Gb OCZ DDR3-1600
- Coolermaster Silent Pro M600 PSU
- 1.5Tb Seagate 5900 RPM
- Lian Li PC-Q11 chassis
- Esquire mini wireless keyboard
- Hauppauge remote + IR-receiver
- 4Gb USB flash drive for OpenElec

This lot cost quite a packet and I wish I'd heard about the HP MS before I started buying the components 6 months earlier - I had to wait almost 3 months for an ITX motherboard and the chassis.

On the software side, I battled for a week to get Ubuntu installed and eventually dropped OpenElec on, in less than 5 minutes. It's pretty awesome software.

Cool so i made the right choice at your expense.

This is for keeper

i got THIS BABYl

Was sold within 37minutes of the add been placed on gumtree mmooooohahahah

so am a happy chap trolling the forums now for a GFX and usb optical audio thinghie :):):)

thanks for all the help/advice guys this is what forums are suppose to be about

I thought you were gonna go for that slick Antec Case?

Oh well, either way you made the right choice - just make sure the GFX card you get fits, and is nVidia based (although i've seen somewhere that openelec has ati drivers now, im not 100% sure if they are)

just double check the HP ProLiant thread, if you want an ATI based card.

Enjoy the server dude! :D

Will do only reason i took it is because the guy stayed in parow and i was around the corner so jumped at it.

Any suggestions as to what to look out for in a nice gfx and also toslink/optical out for my amp 6.1

Dunno how you gonna get optical-out but I think the GT520 (HDMI) works pretty well with the proliant concerning XBMC and movie playback (blurays)

guys and keeper

am looking at purchasing the:

ASUS EAH6450 SILENT/DI/1GD3(LP) ATi Radeon Graphics Card(suggestions/comments)

and

Asus Xonar DS , ultra fidelity 7.1 pci sound card with optical out.(suggestions/comments)

Thanks

no idea.... maybe ask in the HP proliant thread?

with an MSI GT520 you are guaranteed sound and flawless playback, but if you feel you wanna go another route and try the 6450, then good luck I guess...
