Added more Ram and now it won't boot !!!

I recently replaced my 2 x 1 gig 667 RAM with 2 x 2 gig 667 Ram and now my pc won't boot. if i take 1 module of 2 gig RAM out then it boots fine. i have tried switching both modules and individually, they boot fine, but as soon as i put both modules in, it gives me grief. My motherboard is a Intel 945 GF if that helps, i have a 9800 gt graphics card and 750 w power supply and also a sound blaster Audigy card too.. running Vista ultimate 32 bit..

wow.. thats fast.... it has 4 slots, two blue and two brown.. i have tried them in all configs

Strange, they should work in the following way.

Both in blue slots = Dual channel.
One in blue and 1 in brown = Standard single channel.

How were the 2x1GB modules configured?

Can you give me the full model of your mobo? You might find it will support 4GB only if you use 4x1GB modules.

How come 4 x 1GB is a better option to 2 x 2GB? Surely 2 x 2GB allows for future upgrade and expansion, whereas 4 x 1GB doesn't? (assuming the board does support 4 x 2GB as it claims)

What is the exact model of the motherboard?

Try booting with 2GB RAM and upgrade the BIOS to the latest available version. That should allow for 4GB of RAM. But remember only 3.4GB will be actually available on 32bit XP installations.

And then you'd probably have to drop the RAM to 2T timings if you fill all of the slots

But I agree, see if 4x1GB will work first
