How easy is this to do?

I know with the current plugs, there is conduit running though the wall for the wires.

With adding one, will you need to angle grind into the wall to make way for the cables?

Whats the distance between the nearest outlet and where you wanna put the new outlet? Is it along the same wall or in a room adjacent?

If you'll just hold on to this here fork, i'll guide you through the process...

Same wall ... probably a metre to the side.

Also want to add te 'plug cover' to house satellite cables, so prefer to run through the wall too

Change the existing plug point to an exterior box, run a white pipe between it and the new plug point. Mount another exterior box at the new plug point. Run wires through the white pipe to the new plug point. Don't bother with the grinding.

So, superB, a little birdie told me you might be looking for a new place to stay. You know, after the electrical accident? Something about a fork. :D

Damnit. Do you want the number of a cheap electrician?

I've got some some super plans for when I move back in a year ;)

Yea - it's a year - but I'd like to check everything out first now and see how viable everything is.

Fine well I'll just keep the friggen fork then.

FINE.

You hear me?

F.I.N.E.

:(

Candice's brother is an electrician, btw.

You're welcome!

This is your shopping list...

1) Two exterior square white wall mounted boxes (plastic or white metal)
2) 2 to 4 long bolts to convert the existing point to an exterior box
3) 2 to 4 wall screws and plugs for new wall mounted box (might come with the box).
4) 1 meter or so of white plastic conduit.
5) 1 meter or so of three core earthed electrical cable (heavy duty).
6) a new plug point face for the new box - preferable a dual plug point (you can use the existing face from the old plug point for the other box).
7) two saddle thingies... the connectors at each box that seal and attach to the white conduit pipe to hold it in place.
8) Large black plastic shielded electrical connectors - at least 6 to make the actual wire connections.

I think thats it.

Can be done, I did ours couple weeks ago, ran a wire through to the Lapa.
I didnt bother with drilling holes and hiding wires.

My 2c worth, try not to run communications cables in the same trunking as power cables, if you have to, then make sure you get properly electromagnetically shielded cable. The best (for a plug piont) would be to get 2 4x4 wall boxes, two female 20mm pvc glands, a length of 20mm pvc conduit, a length of 2.5m2 cabtyre or twin/flat and earth and some pvc cement.
Mount the 4x4 surface box over the existing plug point hole securing the box with long 5mm screws to the built in box on the inside of the wall, knock out the 20mm whole on the side of the surface box, using pvc cement attach the 20mm pvc gland to the pipe end, and fit it in the whole, secure with the locknut. Mount the other surface box to the wall, attach the other gland and connect to the second surface box. Feed the wire, and connect. Very easy.

Gary beat me to it, thats a good list.

+1 .. ja you should come right between DDV's and my list. He's got the sizes and the PVC cement as well.

you might also want to get one or two saddles and screws to hold the PVC conduit to the wall as well to make it more secure.

And insulation tape if you mess things up!:o
And put of the main switch before you attempt anything.
