I've got some some super plans for when I move back in a year
Yea - it's a year - but I'd like to check everything out first now and see how viable everything is.

My 2c worth, try not to run communications cables in the same trunking as power cables, if you have to, then make sure you get properly electromagnetically shielded cable. The best (for a plug piont) would be to get 2 4x4 wall boxes, two female 20mm pvc glands, a length of 20mm pvc conduit, a length of 2.5m2 cabtyre or twin/flat and earth and some pvc cement.
Mount the 4x4 surface box over the existing plug point hole securing the box with long 5mm screws to the built in box on the inside of the wall, knock out the 20mm whole on the side of the surface box, using pvc cement attach the 20mm pvc gland to the pipe end, and fit it in the whole, secure with the locknut. Mount the other surface box to the wall, attach the other gland and connect to the second surface box. Feed the wire, and connect. Very easy.

This is your shopping list...
1) Two exterior square white wall mounted boxes (plastic or white metal)
2) 2 to 4 long bolts to convert the existing point to an exterior box
3) 2 to 4 wall screws and plugs for new wall mounted box (might come with the box).
4) 1 meter or so of white plastic conduit.
5) 1 meter or so of three core earthed electrical cable (heavy duty).
6) a new plug point face for the new box - preferable a dual plug point (you can use the existing face from the old plug point for the other box).
7) two saddle thingies... the connectors at each box that seal and attach to the white conduit pipe to hold it in place.
8) Large black plastic shielded electrical connectors - at least 6 to make the actual wire connections.
