So you're driving, you want to open the gate, so you quickly glance at your webcam, before sending an sms. Sure.

I never said I was driving. And that screenshot contains the buttons required to open and close the gate, so there’s no “sending an SMS”, even though that’s what the OP suggested. A silly way to activate things, to be honest!So you're driving, you want to open the gate, so you quickly glance at your webcam, before sending an sms. Sure.
See if you can find a manual for that gate motor. You can use the 12v and gnd pins to power the sonoff or Shelly, and then you need to figure out which pins are used to trigger the gate. On the D5 it is marked Trigger. The output of the sonoff or Shelly will then connect to this pin and usually gnd or common to bridge them out. The sonoff SV you can set to inching mode for 0.5s and it will then act as a dry contact to bridge those pins out for that time and then open.Hoping someone can walk me through connecting a Sonoss or Shelly to an ET500.

Now, if you could tell me exactly which wires to connect where - I have a Sonoff Basic available - N L on the input side, and L N on the output side.
Input:
N ---> 10?
L ---> 9?
Output:
L ----> ?
N ----> ?
Sonoff

Thanks @Steamy Tom. So I guess BT is for button? Ped is for pedestrian mode so makes sense that they are together.agreed it needs to be a SV. you would bridge 1 and 2 to trigger the gate. bridge them for 1s with a wire or pilars you should see the gate get triggered.
Would you really want to be able to open your gate without having it in sight? Or is it just me?
Think about it the other way around.
You want to know when your gate is opened WHEN you don’t have it in sight.
Thats exactly what I do with open garage doors and open gates, when left open too long at certain hours, we get an alert asking if we want to close or leave openDoes it work that way round? Cause that makes a lot more sense.
