Adobe and Apple war continues

Quicktime deserves to die before we even think of Flash. Jobs, kill quicktime and then we can talk about HTML5 mkay?

Ah, never installed quicktime I see. (Dont blame you either!)
Here you have a point because while Quicktime is flawless on a Mac, many PC users often have a less flattering opinion of it.

Well many Mac users feel the same way about Flash! It's a a buggy resource hog. :)

Adobe should just show apple a toffee and say they are dropping all products/support for the Mac and will henceforth only release on Windows platform :D

Flash - buggy resource hog - belongs to adobe
quicktime - buggy recource hog - belongs to apple

But if apple really wanted this open web, they'd also remove quicktime - which is easy to do because it belongs to them.

Or Apple could just buy Adobe . . .

Jobs should stop stealing technology from HTC and Nokia...then criticise other ppl's technologies.

Its funny the way the two are "careful" about what they say to each other lol Its one of those win-win lose-lose relationships. They going to be tangling ass for years to come as I just don't see a divorce happening lol Photoshop will be too difficult to replace even with a new product (the industry is used to it) and Flash is going to be around on the web for quite some time still. I don't blame Jobs though since Adobe drags feet wrt everything. Toxic marriage that lol

actually, jobs does have a point.
there really isn't any decent ide i know of out there that does animation or effects based on html 5 / canvas / svg
lol @ bwana's post on flash on android. that's just resignation material right there.

"Flash was created during the (personal computer) era for PCs and mice," Jobs said. "But the mobile era is about low power devices, touch interfaces and open Web standards -- all areas where Flash falls short."

Okay, so are they saying that their devices is too weak to use flash? I saw another video last night on some random website with them demoing the website mentioned in the article on a Nexus One with Froyo, and a bunch of video sites...I was amazed at how smoothly it ran, especially the 3-d webpage! Now apparently the new Android Froyo was given an overhaul to make it work, and the results: the benchmarking apps shows an increased speed of up to 500%...now that is cool! So if Adobe has anything with making Google's OS run better, I will not complain:-) Froyo's all around!:)

Their devices (processors) draw too much power from the battery when using Flash, causing the battery to overheat. We all know what this means. The battery expands and shatters the device's screen - as has been happening to i-pods and i-phones. After blaming 3rd party apps, Apple admitted a while back that when the processor demands too much power from the battery, the battery expands, resulting in the device splitting open, or the screen shattering. Flash on any Apple based OS uses a lot of processor power.

This is also notable on the i-macs and macbooks. The processors temp shoots from 50 degrees to 70 degrees on flash intensive sites. It has something to do with the OS itself, as Windows does not seem to need the same processing requirements. (Temps stay in the low 30's) I guess Android got wise to the fact that the OS needs to process flash in a different way. Apple would NEVER concede to that! They would rather expect Adobe to learn to drive on their narrow road...

In PC land I have choice, I value choice over everything else. So I watch videos in GOM Player, or VLC or whatever I fancy next ... BUT forcing me to install junk software I do not want or need, now that has nothing to do with flawless software or not and everything to do with Steve that wants to control every single PC in the world like he controls every Apple in this world.

+1000 times 1000

and stop forcing the install when I install iTunes.
iTunes uses quicktime for the codecs, file conversion, etc but if you dont like it why not use one of the plethora of iTunes alternatives available?

Or better still buy a Zune :)
