Adobe Photoshop Problem

When I draw a shape in Photoshop (CS5), I cannot select it?

I have tried creating a new layer for the shape, but nothing is working. I have restarted my pc, as well as tried creating a new psd file to see if this will resolve the problem, but I cannot seem to find a solution.

Is there anyone who can perhaps please point me in the right direction on how to repair it please? It was working fine yesterday, but now all of a sudden something is wrong.

You mean you can't select the layer in the layer palette or you can't select pixels in the canvas?

I cant select pixels in the canvas. Once the shape is drawn, I cannot select it again.
