The below is what my router is syncing at. Does this mean the exchange I am connected to can do 20MB ADSL, looking at the Max Rate section. Is this interpretation correct.

Good question, which I can't answer. I assume you have a tp-link router ? looks just like my stats except you on 10mbps and I'm stuck on 4mbps. Now Telkom says although the router says max 8, the dslam can only handle 4mbps..

So it maybe the same case for you.

telkom does not support 20mps adsl yet , they only do 20mbs vdsl.

but yes if the exchange supported 20mps adsl you would of probably got 20mbs :p

Sadly you won't be able to do 20Mbps with those stats.

My SNR for downstream on a 10Mbps line is 27.0 db and when I had a Telkom employee test the line syncing on 20Mbps profile, the max my router synced at was 14.4Mbps. That said, I would still take that for the slightly higher price that he guessed it will be. 20Mbps adsl will be slightly cheaper than 20Mbps vdsl.

So if I wanted 20mbs I would then have to check with telkom to see if my exchange supports it and then get a new modem/router that supports VDSL. My router stats are then meaningless for 20mbs :)

Thanks all for the info.

I am syncing on 20Mb ADSL2+ at the moment. Originally the max ADSL2+ profile was 15Mb but it was bumped to 20 in October. It's not official, and you get it when you apply for VDSL but cant get VDSL sync.

Hi There,
Telkom is going to be updating in a similar way to last year so your exchange may just be getting ready for that. Your attenuation though might struggle to cope with a 20 meg line.

Regards

Tim
