Ok so I have this problem of the ADSL resyncing. Telkom says it is the line and reduced the speed accordingly but now it is at 1MBPS but the syncing is still happening a lot. What is Telkom going to now?
(We use Telkom Closer Plan option 5)

They are going to send a technician. But they have sent one (before this) and he said it was the router. We went to exchange the Billion 800VGT and Telkom Direct says it is not the router. Trying to communicate the problem with Telkom is just plain difficult. Spoke to one women who said this:
Sep 27 07:33:55 home.gateway:turbo_extEvtHandlerProc:none: ADSL line is DOWN!
Sep 27 07:34:27 home.gateway:turbo_extEvtHandlerProc:none: ADSL line is UP!
Sep 27 08:34:55 home.gateway:turbo_extEvtHandlerProc:none: ADSL line is DOWN!
Sep 27 08:36:04 home.gateway:turbo_extEvtHandlerProc:none: ADSL line is UP!
Sep 27 08:53:08 home.gateway:turbo_extEvtHandlerProc:none: ADSL line is DOWN!
Sep 27 08:53:50 home.gateway:turbo_extEvtHandlerProc:none: ADSL line is UP!
Sep 27 08:54:02 home.gateway:turbo_extEvtHandlerProc:none: ADSL line is DOWN!
Sep 27 08:54:48 home.gateway:turbo_extEvtHandlerProc:none: ADSL line is UP!
happened because we were capped.

I have exactly the same problem with my ADSL. On some days, it loses sync every few minutes and when it resyncs, my sync speeds will look like something like this:

4096 > 3500 > 3000 > 2500 > 2000

and it's really frustrating. I've been trying to pinpoint the source of the problem without any luck but I'm try to get Telkom to swap my Mega 100Wr with a Billion and see if that helps.

Obviously it didnt note the all caps title and the fact that your line is "resyncing" instead of desyncing :D And its 1Mbps not 1 MBPS.
"MS WORD 2007" will never beat me :D

Trust me changing routers won't help. This started when we had a Marconi Premium Combo and now we have a Billion 800VGT router. Still it does not help.

Anyway, they want me to put a filter on my alarm so does anyone know how to do that?
(Does it involve going in the roof, can we get Telkom or ADT to do it?)

After having ADSL for almost 2 years this is the first time they mention that my alarm could be the problem.

Definately can get Telkom or ADT to do it. But the filter will only help your alarm, not your ADSL line afaik. The alarm line is not open when not in use so shouldn't pose any issue. I would say there is a copper wire problem. Get the telkom guy to connect the router right where the copper telkom line comes into your house and test it there - I once had an internal wiring problem that we discovered this way. You will also be cutting out any other equipment and proving a point - at least narrowing it down to their issue or a modem issue. My feeling is it's underground or on the pole outside - i.e. telkom's problem...

Will try but the only problem will be is, that if the service is fine, right where the line enters the hose we might need 3 x 50m LAN cables and unfortunately that is not an option. Including rewiring the whole house is not an option too.
Or we could get Wireless networking cards.
Let me here what they say first.
