Hey guys,

I have a client who has one of these PABX models...

http://www.multitek.co.za/products04.htm

Telkom has come to install his ADSL for him and they ran the line straight into this PABX. I can't see any microfilter before the PABX.

Will this setup work? Is he now supposed to put his Router on one of the PABX points? And if so, where must he now put the micro filters? Does he need one for every extension on the PABX?

I thought you always had to have a micro-filter before any analog phone device, but maybe this PABX can tell the difference?

If it's on a separate line with no phones attached then you do not need a filter.

no, all the house phones are attached. It is the same line as the complete PABX. There is no seperate line.

The PABX responds to the line in the same way that a phone does, it should need a filter. You could try it without a filter but you may pick up noise when that particular trunk is looped.

Be aware though, if the client has exchange metering detection, the filter will filter the 16KHZ meter pulse from the exchange, out. This will cause the PABX billing system to fail as it will not know the start time of an outgoing call.
