ADSL beyond slow today

Hmmm...I'm in JHB. Seemed to be okay again by late afternoon Friday.

Will keep an eye on things and post back here if it goes off the rails again.

Whats the situation like on Openweb? I'm on a wireless local provider where I am and its running pretty good, but wanting now to upgrade to Openweb :)

I just love this:

System Notice
Our main backbone provider is currently in the phase of adding more bandwidth from the seacom infrastructure to the current network infrastructure, which will give much improved speeds internationally. In preparation of this, there may be some intermittent latency/connectivity issues internationally. We expect everything to be concluded by early August, after which you will be able to enjoy a much better surfing/connectivity experience. We do apologise for the inconvenience caused by this.

Is there any other industry on the planet that ould get away with stuff like this.

Imagine it:

You sit in a restaurant, order coffee and breakfast, and 35 minutes later, your coffee arrives.

Fifteen minutes later, your coffee is finished, but the waiter tells you that they are busy upgrading their pots and pans in order to "give much improved speeds" when customers order their food in future.

Retarded.

It's called "phased introduction," people.

I am sitting in Cape Town.

Will buy breakfast for anybody who lets me use their access (if they have it).

well maybe you are capped everything is working for me like a charm

Bugger. The thing is, it is the account of the restaurant I'm sitting in - so it's entirely possible.

Hmmm.

Anybody else?

Thanks for the update, btw.
