Looks like they updated the adsl check to now display what speeds your area supports and if its via copper or fibre.... :)
It still does not distinguish 20Mbps adsl2+ which I have from 20Mbps VDSL though.

Just check my line to see what's cooking...

Doesn't work for me.

Just says

ADSL availability and maximum speed supported by your exchange cannot be determined at this stage. For residential services please contact the call centre on 10210, for business services please contact the call centre on 10217.

Where it previously has worked.

It was working just now before I posted that is when I took the screenshot. Maybe they are still updating it?

I get the same message. I don't need to check though. I'm syncing at 10Mbps and my SNR doesn't have a decibel to spare before the line becomes unstable. No mystery as to what my max speed is atm.

May I ask what your SNR down and up is?

Same message for me, although I know that they haven't done anything to my exchange. It started out at 4Mbps almost 10 years ago and haven't gained 1 kbps.

May I ask what your SNR down and up is?

Down is 6.1dB and up is 12.0dB. I have an 8Mbit Afrihost Business Uncapped account, and I sync at 10Mbps to reduce overheads. Syncing at 9Mbps isn't an option for some reason, despite 1-8 being possible.

Yeah that is about the max. 5dB and upwards is still stable with only a couple of adsl errors which you can't even notice. I think lower than 4dB SNR the line might start dropping but I sync @ 13.2Mbps with a SNR of 5.8dB and its very stable. No drops at all since the upgrade which is nice. I think the SNR is just that bad for me because of the distance. I am about 2.5KM from the exchange.

My neighbour (no Telkom line) can get 20Mbps (on copper).

Me, with ADSL, via either my number or address:

This used to work, and I could see that my local exchange supported up to 4 Mbps ... now it cannot be determined :erm:

Worked previously showing max 10Mb.

Didnt work, tried again a minute later:
Maximum speed available in your area 40 Mbps (Copper)
Your Current Service speed 4 Mbps
Finally can get more than 4 Mbps, yay.

Downstream Upstream
SNR Margin (dB): 12.1 24.0
Attenuation (dB): 41.0 24.6
Output Power (dBm): 0.1 5.3
Attainable Rate (Kbps): 9972 1241
Rate (Kbps): 4096 509

Good enough for 10 Mbps without drops? Router is going to be replaced soon, so stats may improve.

Easy... Your SNR will drop to about 5.5dB-6dB but will not cause your line to drop unless your quality of the line is actually very bad but stats wise 10Mbps is very achievable for your line. :) Don't settle for less until your line actually starts dropping then you can drop it 1 profile slower which is 8Mbps but try 10Mbps first.

You are +-2.8 to 3.1KM from the exchange.

Thanks, now just have to wait for afrihost to update their database, "Your exchange does not yet support DSL" lol.
