ADSL Availability
Service Not Available
Maximum speed available in your area 10Mbps (Copper)
If you say no to do you have an existing landline, you get the option to enter an address, that will give the max speed in your area. Existing landline option also doesn't work for me.

Checking that page again, it has been updated alledgedly my area is going to get 20/40Mbps VDSL enabled in the next 3-6 months! That makes me very happy indeed!!"ADSL availability and maximum speed supported by your exchange cannot be determined at this stage. Got that on the old site, still getting that now. If I look on the "Interest Register" map that shows FTTH/VDSL/No progress, my area sadly isn't even coloured in red for "on your mark".

Tho I am right on the border of the blue mark, so I am guessing 20Mbps max for me most probably.
So nice to be given hope. I had hope back in April or so when they installed a new white cabinet in the area from the old style blue one, and the first hop pings dropped from a minimum of 17ms down to 9ms. But then no option of upgrading from 4Mbps was given, and congestion remained so I fear the regional budget was spent installing the box and no money was left for backhaul.
EDIT: no it was upgraded May 2013, time flies when your exchange is congested and waiting for Telkom
