ADSL consumer packages - A DigiChilli survey

I don't like the idea of thresholds with an uncapped account, kind of goes against the idea of uncapped. But I am all for throttling (half the speed) during business hours on all traffic that is not http, https and so on
 
From more of a buisness side,

Static IP's
Higher upload speeds (proberly not in you control)
Subscriptions for buisness with muliple branches (4 + branches lines price will be less)

Agreed, but would be best it could actually be applied in respect to network conditions. Not just a blanket application during certain times but actually representative of how much of the network is being used. No point in throttling when the network is being half used. If you get my drift :p

I agree on the way this package is structured. I would just add that this is sorta what DigiChilli is offering right now on the 256Kbps package for R300 per month. But I would like to see that when DigiChilli sort out all the abuse that's happening on their network (torrents masked as HTTP during the daylight hours and the bastards who are using the network for the DDOS attacks), I actually end up with the above service, which is what I thought I was signing up for. Sooner rather than later.

Let me say definitively again:

WE DON'T HAVE CAPS OR THRESHOLDS.

This is a survey to ask people what they would like as a package. i.e. low latency gaming for Rx. Browse all you can for Ry. etc.

The 50 gig / month is the AVERAGE usage of our users so far. IT IS NOT A CAP OR AUP.

We apologise for confusing people with the current average usage per user statement!

I am happy with the current mild package, one connection at home, one at work (oh and not everybody works 9 - 5, I work 3pm - 3am). At home I download stuff i can go watch at work. I can remote to my home PC and line up the shows I want to watch the next night to download so long. At work I mostly browse, watch youtube and IM. Oh and I want to start to do remote backups of my work stuff to my home pc.

Ok, I get it now... Just all the posts above including fair policies seems a bit daft ;)

On a completely different note and to flog a dead horse: I would much appreciate it you guys could focus on getting your current products (which are good packages) working as expected before scheming up new ones... I have yet to see any speeds that are half as fast as your promised minimum speed for my account type. Been a week now.

Dave i think what would help, is to explain to people what the current offerings will eventually offer them in terms of speed (http, torrents, skype, newz). Then the ideas will start moving beyond that. At the moment many of the suggestions are trying to fix the current issues.

@everybody - try think out of the box.
 
Your initial offering is perfect - if you can get it to work perfectly:
- low latency, 256kb/s guaranteed all hours, R300 - bargain!!!

But if not - if the downloaders are unbalancing the scale, then:
2 packages required:
1. Web & Gaming - must be low latency, 256kb/s GUARANTEED all hours, burst to 512kb only, R 300 (Low latency and guaranteed bandwidth have a priority over Downloading below.)

2. Downloading - high latency not a problem, 128kb/s minimum during business hours, 256 kb/s minimum after hours - bursting to 4Mb, R 300

Good speeds on Torrents and access to Gtalk and Msn messenger........voip quality aswell
 
I know it's in the pipeline but I can't wait for the news server. Better speeds on torrents would also be great. Perhaps do away with the 256 package altogether and allow 384. 256 is just a bit too slow. Maybe throttle to 256 during office hours
 
Yip, if the news server is up and running most of my dowloading trafic will go there.
 
Also, I'm very happy with the current spicy account......wish more ports were functional but otherwise it's a dream come true.

max line speed all the time. uncapped. no threshholds. consistent speeds. p2p allowed. fast streaming and browsing. well i dont really use online gaming though in the future i might so maybe a gaming server or sommething. news servers in case i want to try that out. just something efficient at a GOOD price

+1 I don't see myself signing up for any other acc with digichilli anytime in the future. I'm stuck with this "test" account for december. I am extremely dissapointed with DC. Come January, I will not use DC anaymore, I would rather do my homework and talk to some people, then decide on an acc, that probably won't be uncapped and a bit expensive....... but at least everything will work
