No it is not, there is a R1500 setup fee + 24 month contract.

Furthermore, no P2P traffic and UP TO 4MB....
 
The 24 month contract puts me off.

Openweb has no setup fee and theirs run month to month.

I think this is misleading, since the Sainet website are punting the extra bandwidth as "free".

Last time I checked, free means its free, but can be taken away at any time, and you can't complain. Wonder what the terms and conditions state..

They shouldn't maket it as "free bandwidth", but a cap size increase, or data bundle size increase.

Ok... so let me get this straight:
The only real advantage here is that SAINET is R100 cheaper?
They have a horrid 24 month contract and no p2p allowed. The is the opposite at Openweb, which just costs R100 more. The ONLY thing that would get me to choose SAINET over Openweb, is if the p2p filter is going to give me better performance on the line. This is from a business point of view where p2p is not usually a need. If Openweb and SAINET just resell the bandwidth for Vodacom, and the removal of p2p on the SAINET contract makes no difference to either of the lines, then I believe Openweb wins by a long margin. Especially at a time when signing a 2 year contract is stupid for an end user!
BUT, if the removal of p2p from the SAINET line is actually make performance much better, and you are getting closer to your 4Mbits during the day, then I think it would be a good option for a business... albeit, the 24 month contract.

Suddenly SAINET doesn't look that great. In fact it looks really bad.

There's no tricking myBB forumites - bring us REAL value!

Some comments:
Free bandwidth applies if you subscribe to a service, you obviously cannot expect to get free bandwidth without subscribing.

We expect to deliver more cost effective bandwidth soon, this is only the start and this does not form part of our 'marketing budget' we use to lower prices.

Uncapped comments:
R1500 applies to Fixed IP Solution only
Shaped P2P applies - we can only abide to what VB tolerate on their access products.
24 Months contract applies to Fixed IP solution only.

Can we ask for some more positive concrete suggestions, we listen.

So what we are saying here is that Openweb got in a better contract with Vodacom? As they allow p2p. Possibly due to that, Vodacom has learn't not to include p2p anymore :-)
Anyway, good that the 2 yr contract & up front fee is not included in the dynamic ip solution. This now puts the solution in a much more positive light for Business. Well done SAINET.
... and MyBB, please try to include all the significant details in your reports. It is annoying that the actual news report needs the details explained in the discussion.

My point was that you should not be punting/marketing the extra bandwidth as "free bandwidth".

  1. It's like Nando's giving you a "free 330ml coke" with the purchase of every chicken burger. In general, most people will assume that this is a special offer, and that it won't last forever. In any case, this is myBB's fault for reporting it as ADSL bundle sizes increased by 25%. Thanks Staff Writer, for getting it wrong, AGAIN.
  2. Also, whenever I see any site on the internet offering something for free, I run (or rather, click away) like hell. I don't trust free things on the internet.
  3. Maybe SAINET thinks that by telling us that we are getting something for free, we will get so excited and wet ourselves that we will forget that you're basically offering services at the same price as everyone else (except Führer Afrihost, of course).
  4. If you are TRULY giving increasing the size of the data bundles, while keeping the price the same, then you should market it as this. Don't market it is "free bandwidth". You're fooling no-one.

Don't be dissing Führer Afrihost, who have decided to rather spend their marketing budget on providing us with real value. Take note of this. Learn from this. Don't diss Fuhrer Afrihost. They're our champions! I actually never heard of them before this R29 per GB special. Now I have a 10GB account with them (after dropping iWorst as fast as I could), and I've already got 3 of my buddies to sign up with them as well. Take a lesson from Afrihost on how to spend your marketing budget. Take a look at the current poll on myBB. Afrihost have the 2nd highest number of ADSL subscribers from all myBB readers. Sure the results aren't representative of the entire RSA. But they sure do represent the most tech savvy, internet savvy, bunch of geeks in RSA. You should be targeting this group, a la Führer Afrihost.

Yeah. Forcing me to sign a 24 month contract so that I can get a fixed IP is ridiculous. If you must force a contract for this, then drop it to 3 months, or at most 6 months. Or better still, allow the client to sign a seperate contract for the fixed IP itself, a contract which is independant of the ADSL account. A R1500 setup fee for a fixed IP is just as ridiculous. I don't care if everyone else is charging this, it's daylight robbery.

Oh, and did I mention how much I hate being forced to sign 24 month contracts? Especially when your competition aren't?

Thanks for dropping prices though, I mean it, no more sarcasm here, it's great to see prices coming down all around. And learn to market (or word) your price drops better.

OK that's the end of my rant for today.
