ADSL Disconnects

Posting here out of sheer frustration.

About a month and a half back I started getting random line issues so I got Telkom out. Was told it was my modem (old D-Link that seems to have popped due to surges on the line or something) so I waited until pay day and bought a Cisco X3000. Similar issues still occurred. Telkom came out quite a few times again and even sent a network engineer out with testers etc to try pin-point the issue. End result was they've replaced all the cable from outside where it ties into their network right into the house up until the modem. Cable also swapped outside between the junction outside my house to the junction (or whatever you call it) down the road (apparently there was earthing on one of the wires or something). Swapped to a different DSLAM port too apparently. This is where I am currently.
Issues still occurs on the Cisco X3000. Occurs anywhere from every 15min to every hour or 2.
The exact issue seems to be a drop in Link or just a PPP drop and then the modem cant seem to reconnect.
Borrowed a mates' Netgear DG834Gv4 - zero issues. Not even errors in the logs.
Borrowed another mates D-Link DSL-2640U - same issue, seems to occur more infrequently. Have only had it happen twice since starting to use it early this evening.
Will paste a log extract of the Cisco and D-Link at the end of this.

Line is with Web Africa (gotten some good support from them on this whole issue).
ISP's I've tried is MWEB (my usual), Axxess, and WA.

Problem is Telkom at present is saying everything is perfect and there is nothing they can do any further. I'm going to take this back to WA but I have strong doubts its going to get any further. Any advice on how to sort this out will be great.

Also - what isnt mentioned here is after Telkom performed all the fixes I swopped out the Cisco X3000 being concerned the modem was faulty. No difference.

You need high SNR for a stable connection. I see your downstream SNR is 19.6dB which is a bit on the low side, there is noise on your line and that's why it disconnects. Your line Attenuation looks perfect BTW.

SNR:

* 6bB. or below = Bad and will experience no line synchronisation and frequent disconnections
* 7dB-10dB. = Fair but does not leave much room for variances in conditions.
* 11dB-20dB. = Good with little or no disconnection problems
* 20dB-28dB. = Excellent
* 29dB. or above = Outstanding

Maybe ask Telkom to drop your line speed to 3Mbps and see if the disconnections still happens.

Also after a night of Testing I had 2 disconnects only with the D-Link which is considerably better than the Cisco. Seems that modem is just a ton more sensitive to issues than these others.

A friend is also busy testing the Cisco at his place so I guess I'll see if its an equipment issue.

Doubt it has anything to do with linestats/modem/linespeed there is obviously a problem in the exchange or UMC box with the card you connect to so it is not working properly causing disconnections.

Had a similar problem but with CRC errors causing the modem to take long to sync/connect or losing both and ended up being the card in UMC box/Dslam being faulty plus they found cable problems (wasnt to do with that but made my ping get better ).
