Anyone else experience a disconnect at 9pm? My line dropped and the router won't sync.

On the phone to Telkom now, seems the exchange might be down as they can't access it either

I've been experiencing latency on both Vodacom and Telkom this evening here in Somerset West. Feels like a serious disturbance in the force.

Planned maintenance started early, I'd guess. Didn't notice downtime myself, though.

Oh - just saw this one as well - bit older, but the end date was today still. Maybe related.

Thanks guys, I couldn't find any info on the web regarding maintenance (was searching on my phone :D )

My line was up and running this morning again. What irks me is that I phoned Telkom to log a fault and the guy on the line didn't bother to look up the maintenance details seeing as he couldn't connect either?!?! This after me asking if they were working in the area

Anyways...alls well that ends well...my interwebs is running running at full speed again.

I'm suffering bad speeds and long latency since 2nd week of October already. Due to the wellknown lack in internal communications I already had 4 techies at my house on 4 days, and they all came to the same conclusion: Table View 9 (the only high speed server for our area) has network problems. So only customers with lines from 4MB upwards should be affected. However, since then I'm calling the unhelpline like every day but to no avail. Nobody giving me any useful information or they getting snappy when I ask uncomfortable questions (stupid uptight German, I know). Speed tests show quite ok results of 3.42 mb up and an unacceptable 0.42 down with 60ms ping to Newlands. However, I'm on Second Life with servers in SF and Dallas (USA) and there my local speeds and ping don't mean ****. The connection is more wobbly now than it was ever before. Resulting in my whole screen freezing in for up to 3 minutes, followed by being logged out off the game. That's not acceptable! And it was so much better already: When I returned to SA in the beginning of October I enjoyed 8MB syncing ... for one week. Then it all went downhill :(

How do people with a 021 - 556 ... telephone number get higher than 4 Meg...

According the telkom website... that exchange does not support higher than 4 meg...

Telkom techy confirmed it can handle higher speeds as there are customers in the area syncing above 4Mbit....it all depends on your distance from the exchange. I'm a 557 number and a little too far to enjoy higher speeds :-(

Been down again for me since Friday and no reason given as to why or when it will be sorted out

Thanks for the update kinda sucks not having internet for the weekend but nice to know what's happening...

I'm in blouberg and it's been down since Friday. They said it was the the tableview exchange. :(

That explains why I have been getting half my normal speeds for the last 2 weeks

No issues here. My line was moved to one of the MSANs last night. Now just trying to get them to bump me to 10Mbit, which seems like it may be another struggle.

Lucky bugger!

Where about do you stay and how has your line stats increased if I may ask? Also, I'm assuming you're in the fruit&veg exchange right?
