:p Ladies and gentleman - you will have to please indulge my ignorance towards this as I'm sure you all have mulled on this one before. But why is it so darn expensive here?!?!?!?

My buddy in London has got a 8Mb ADSL connection with 300GB cap for 20pounds per month!!!

Why the heck are we still bottom feeding here, Telkom rakes Millions every year and they can't offer us better products at better prices. I'm also fearful of Neotel and what it'll dofor us! They'll be slow if CellC is anything to go by!

Shake&Bake, that question has been asked many times in the past. Does anyone remember that claim that it was quicker (or was it cheaper?) to fly to China to download alot of data than it is to do it here.

Could be quicker going there by kayak!!!

Hmmm...As far as I can see in South Africa's future, I think they should have at least 8mb lines by the end of this year....or so I hope :)

As for a 300GIG! cap.....and all for 20pounds (R240) not for a few decades :D

I had uncapped 2mb 18 months ago for about R150 a month. When I came back to SA I used up my dad's 3G cap in a day and lost it when I couldn't connect anymore. Took him an hour to calm me down after explaining to me what a capped connection was.

I hope things change here, 3Gig is madness. I used to use that in a day. Miss full on gaming not having to worry about when I am going to reach my cap limit. Prices really need to drop here and caps need to be larger.

Quite a shock. :D :eek:

I came back to dialup .. which is still almost better than having a 3GB cap

Let's see (sorry, was a little bored, and interested!)

3GB * 1024 = 3072 MB
3702 MB * 1024 = 3145728 KB

56Kb = 7KB (chances)

3145728 KB / 7KB = 449389.7 seconds
449389.7 seconds / 60 = 7489.8 minutes
7489.8 minutes / 60 = 124.8 hours

124.8 hours @ Telkom local callmore = R 1198.50 (Telkom call calculator)

R1198.50 + R75 (ISP) = R1273.5

*me hugs my really crap 3GB cap!*

ADSLPrice*=i;
ADSLCap--;
