Hi Guys.

Anybody in the broadacres or fourways area with no ADSL connectivity lately?

My 4mb line has been running fine until a lightning storm at the end of last month. Ever since then, I can't connect or get a sync light on my modem (and yes i have tried other modems).

Telkom keep saying that it's a 'area fault' since may, but i had adsl since last month. They won't send a telkom technician out or get one to call me out of courtesy...

Anybody got any suggestions on how to get telkom to sort this out? Anybody friends or got a number of a telkom technician? :)

cheers,
chris

I don't believe what the call center tells me anymore. When I first installed my ADSL back in June, the call center was telling me the same story for the last year - but I found a technician outside our complex who sorted it out in a week. I think they have a list of responses which they cycle through.

Now to try find someone who can sort out this issue.

We had the same problem in fourways area. Phone the call center and ask them to reset and redesign your port. If that does not work drive around until you see a Telkom technician, but make sure you have a fault reference number. That's how we solved our problem after 11 days of Telkom refusing to send out a technician and acknowledge the fault was on their side. Managed to get a refund for the downtime too.

I guess that will be my mission tomorrow. I just haven't seen telkom technicians around lately, but they must be somewhere. :)

@ christsim, what you will also find if you are and SME from around the 23rd of the month and towards you will get intermittent connectivity. I have been told that bandwidth is allocated to Telkoms Gold and higher up customers. I have to other friends small businesses in the area who experience the same problem. With logging queries the "secret" is log the query in the morning and then at about 3pm or so to phone in again and ask fo the query to be escalated. Its pointless asking for a manager or email addresses etc, you will hit a brick wall, and when the call centre agent gets frustrated, your call will accidently be terminated.

Well it appears that my line is fixed and the "stolen lines" and "area fault" has miraculously been resolved.

Looked all morning for a technician, but I couldn't find one, eventually I went to the telkom shop and spoke to the manager there (Praven) nicely. He called and emailed a few people and wala, after a month with no internet, a technician sorted it out on the same day in 30 minutes.

I have no idea what telkom are trying to do, but if I didn't have another choice, there would be no way I would support them.
