Hi

Ok, so i have never had ADSL at home. I was using POTS before.

Currently I have a normal Telkom telephone line in my unit. Yesterday I ordered ADSL - 384Kbps (1GB) from Telkom.

According to Telkoms website, my exchange is DSL enabled. When Telkom eventually do get around to attending to my order what can I expect to happen? i.e. what hardware will they bring?

Also, does anyone have a breakdown of the bill from Telkom at the end of a normal month?

Regards
L

A router,a pair of pliers and a screwdriver to stab you with =)

Very little happens at your end to convert from Analogue to ADSL,they flick a switch and the line's sorted. Then it needs to be activated, either you do it with the software cd they provide or they do depending on self-install or not.

My Bill is around R700 a month - line rental, voice facility,1024 dsl facility

LOL!!!

I'm going to use my laptop that is WiFi enabled to connected to the internet.
Does this mean that the router installed in my house will be 'transmitting' data to and from my laptop?

so that you can start paying in advance. You will get charged for this month and for december on one bill.

Ok and about the WiFi?

Will the router be transmitting to my laptop?

Router and laptop needs to be synched basically using the wireless key on the router - if you took the wireless option ( or selfinstall )
